ATP Rotterdam Best Bets Including Alcaraz vs Vavassori

ATP 500 Rotterdam 1/8-Finals

Martinez – Rune: 06.02.2025 21:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Pablo Martinez has won three of his last five matches. Last week, Pablo helped Spain win against Switzerland in the Davis Cup, as we predicted—he defeated Stricker on indoor hard court. In the opening round of the ATP Rotterdam, the Spaniard defeated Bautista-Agut in straight sets. Besides losing his serve once, Martinez served well. It is his first appearance in Rotterdam.

Holger Rune has won three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Melbourne, Holger reached the 1/8-Finals of the Australian Open, losing against Sinner in four sets. Last week, Rune played for Denmark against Serbia in the Davis Cup. He lost against Medjedovic in the opening match but won against Kecmanovic in the second match and helped Denmark win against Serbia 3-2. In the opening round, Holger won against Sonego in straight sets yesterday. It is his third appearance in Rotterdam. He has never made it past the second round. Last year, Rune lost in the second round against Shevchenko in three tight sets.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Martinez is the big underdog in this matchup, but we disagree. Rune has never made it past the second round in Rotterdam. He is still trying to find his best form. On the other hand, Martinez played well against Bautista-Agut in the opening round. We expect a tight match.

That being said, Martinez covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Alcaraz – Vavassori: 06.02.2025 19:30 CEST
H2H: 1-0

Carlos Alcaraz has won four of his last five matches. So far this season, Carlos has played in just two tournaments. Two weeks ago in Melbourne, Alcaraz lost against Djokovic in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open in four tight sets. He is the second seed this week in Rotterdam. Carlos won against Van de Zandschulp in three sets in the opening round. It is also his first appearance in Rotterdam. Carlos usually underperforms on indoor hard courts.

Andrea Vavassori has won four of his last five matches. The last match he played before the ATP Rotterdam was last season in October. Vavassori concentrated on doubles, which is why he skipped singles competition. This week in Rotterdam, Andrea successfully qualified for the main draw tournament. In the final qualifying round, Vavassori defeated Blancaneaux in straight sets. Yesterday, in the opening main draw round, Auger-Aliassime retired after he lost the second set against Andrea. It is his first appearance in Rotterdam.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, we partially agree that Vavassori is the big underdog. However,  he is a heavy server, and under these conditions, he can hold his service games easily. We expect him to keep this match tighter than what the bookies think.

That being said, Vavassori covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Andrea Vavassori +6.5 games handicap @1.67 @bet365
