ATP Washington Day 3 Predictions Including Taylor Fritz vs Zachary Svajda

Taylor Fritz ahead of ATP Washington

After Taylor Fritz took the title in Atlanta, the U.S. Open Series ramps up with an ATP 500 in Washington. As always, we here at LWOT will preview and predict every match. Who do you think will win?

ATP Washington Day 3 Predictions

Yosuke Watanuki vs Felix Auger-Aliassime

Head-to-head: first meeting

Despite not playing since Wimbledon, Watanuki managed to break the Top 100 last week for the first time in his career with other players dropping points at the right time for him. The Japanese also had a bizarre opener in Washington, going 1-4 down to Wu Yibing in the first set before his opponent fainted and had to retire. Auger-Aliassime is still yet to find his groove this season, just one win under his belt since the end of March. The Canadian has to take this opportunity to regroup against Watanuki.

Prediction: Auger-Aliassime in 3

Tallon Griekspoor vs Liam Broady

Head-to-head: Broady 1-0 Griekspoor

Griekspoor had a strong grass season, winning his second ATP title at s-Hertogenbosch but after a routine first-round loss to Marton Fucsovics, he went over to Germany and participated in the Bundesliga. Broady had a brilliant showing at Wimbledon, beating Casper Ruud to reach the third round. In the first round, the Brit was able to exploit the backhand of Corentin Moutet to win in straight sets. This match could really go either way but I will lean toward Broady here.

Prediction: Broady in 3

Taylor Fritz vs Zachary Svajda

Head-to-head: first meeting

Fritz, coming off of the Atlanta title where he beat Wu Yibing, Kei Nishikori, JJ Wolf, and Aleksandar Vukic, will be among the favorites in Washington as well. Standing in his way will be Zachary Svajda, who qualified past Ryan Harrison and Brandon Holt. Svajda really impressed in the first round, coming back from a set down against Max Purcell. Fritz should deal with Svajda easily enough nonetheless.

Prediction: Fritz in 2
