WTA Bogota Day 2 Predictions Including Panna Udvardy vs Dayana Yastremska

Panna Udvardy Miami

First round action continues on Tuesday at the WTA 250 level Copa Colsanitas in Bogota, Colombia. An interesting clash between the fourth seeded Panna Udvardy and the dangerous Dayana Yastremska headlines the action on Day 2. A wide open draw means there’s valuable ranking points on offer to all. Who will step up and make the most of their opportunity this week? We also predict the rest of the day’s matches, split between two articles. One features Camila Osorio vs Ylena In-Albon, and the other features Anna Karolina Schmiedlova vs Yuliana Lizarazo.

WTA Bogota Day 2 Predictions

Aleksandra Krunic vs Kamilla Rakhimova

H2H: Rakhimova 2-0.

Krunic and Rakhimova both arrive in Bogota in miserable form. Krunic has lost eight of her last ten matches, whilst Rakhimova is on a six-match losing streak. There’s only 5 ranking spots between the pair, both sit just outside the top 100. There’s little to separate the pair.

Rakhimova has won both of the previous meetings between the pair, including a 6-3 6-4 victory in Melbourne earlier this year. The clay in Bogota will give Krunic a better chance in this matchup, most of Krunic’s successes over the last few years have been on clay. I’ll give Krunic the benefit of the doubt here, she’s more talented and better suited to the conditions.
Prediction: Krunic in 3

Harriet Dart vs Elina Avanesyan

H2H: First meeting.

At first glance Dart seems like an overwhelming favorite against unheralded 19-year-old Avanesyan. However, it’s unlikely to be a straightforward matchup for the Brit. Clay is easily Dart’s least successful surface, whilst Avanesyan plays the vast majority of her tennis on clay. It’s unusual to see someone like Dart travel to Bogota, a tournament usually played exclusively by clay court specialists. Avanesyan may exploit Dart’s vulnerability on the clay.
Prediction: Avanesyan in 3

Beatriz Haddad Maia vs Reka Luca Jani

H2H: First meeting.

The second seeded Beatriz Haddad Maia looks like one of the strong contenders to go all the way this week in Bogota. The Brazilian is in good form having reached the semifinals in Monterrey and claiming notable wins over Sofia Kenin and Maria Sakkari in Indian Wells and Miami. Back on her favourite surface on her home continent, Haddad Maia will be tough to beat. Jani’s recent form suggests she will be of little threat to the Brazilian.

Panna Udvardy vs Dayana Yastremska

H2H: Yastremska 1-0.

Panna Udvardy made huge progress in 2021 with a plethora of victories on clay at the lower levels. Now the Hungarian has an opportunity to make a name for herself on the regular tour this clay court season thanks to her boosted ranking. A first round matchup with Dayana Yastremska looms as a big test.

It’s hard to know what to expect from Yastremska, her first match on clay for the season after a couple of disappointing recent results. A solid level is guaranteed from Udvardy, meaning she is probably more likely to prevail in these circumstances.
Prediction: Udvardy in 3
