WTA Bogota Day 2 Predictions Including Camila Osorio vs Ylena In-Albon

Daniela Seguel in action ahead of the WTA Bogota Open.

Expect plenty of entertaining clay-court tennis on day two at the WTA Bogota Open. There are 10 first-round matches on the schedule on day two in the Colombian capital and, as ever, we here at LWOT are offering our predictions for every match, including Panna Udvardy vs Dayana Yastremska and Paula Ormaechea vs Irina Bara. But who will reach the second round?

WTA Bogota Day 2 Predictions

Yuliana Monroy vs Ekaterina Gorgodze

Head-to-head: first meeting

Ekaterina Gorgodze will surely be looking at this as a very winnable match. The Georgian has spent the majority of her career in the lower-reaches of the WTA rankings, but she comes into this tournament at a career-high world #120 and with plenty of experience behind her having played just over 800 matches, winning 473 of them. Yuliana Monroy is also at a career-high ranking, but she is still some way of breaking into the top 500 at world #683. This will, in fact, be Monroy’s first WTA-level match of the season. She will doubtless want to play her very best tennis, but Gorgodze will surely have too much.

Camila Osorio vs Ylena In-Albon

Head-to-head: first meeting

Top seed Camila Osorio will surely be targeting a deep run in Bogota this week. She has not made a particularly sparkling start to the season, but back on her preferred clay and on home turf, Osorio will probably take some stopping. Ylena In-Albon, however, comes into this match in good form after reaching the final across Colombia in Medellin last-time out. That probably makes this about the worst draw that In-Albon could have received. Ultimately, whilst she played well in Medellin, the gap in ability and experience is surely too big for In-Albon to bridge.

Ipek Oz vs Daniela Seguel

Head-to-head: first meeting

This should be an interesting battle. Both players came through the qualifying, with Ipek Oz beating seventh seed Andrea Lazaro Garcia and top seed Valentina Grammatikopoulou to book her place in the main draw. Daniela Seguel, meanwhile, got the better of home hope Kelly Loana Vargas Gonzales, for the loss of just one game, and third seed Carolina Alvez, 6-2 6-4. There are reasons for both players to feel confident as a result, but Seguel looks the likelier of the two to reach the second round. With this a real opportunity for both, Seguel’s greater experience may well prove to be decisive.

Prediction: Seguel in 3
