WTA Bogota Day 2 Predictions Including Anna Karolína Schmiedlová vs Yuliana Lizarazo

Anna Karolina Schmiedlova in action ahead of the WTA Gdynia Open.

The WTA event in Bogota is wide open for some players on the rise and those looking to recapture previous career form. With 10 matches on day 2 in Colombia’s capital, there should be a ton of entertaining clay court matches. Former world #26 Anna Karolína Schmiedlová takes on Colombian Yuliana Lizarazo in what is a very entertaining storyline here on Day 2. We also predict the rest of the day’s matches, split between two articles. One features Camila Osorio vs Ylena In-Albon, and the other features Panna Udvardy vs Dayana Yastremska.

WTA Bogota Day 2 Predictions

Astra Sharma vs Suzan Lamens

Head-to-Head: First meeting

Astra Sharma takes on qualifier Suzan Lamens in their first career meeting. Sharma reached a career high ranking of world #84 just over a month ago. 22-year-old Lamens currently holds her career high ranking of world #204. Lamens has been in fine form this season winning an ITF tournament in Medellin last week. To progress up in the rankings, she will have to start tallying WTA wins, something she has yet to do in her young career. I do not see her finding that first WTA win against the tested Sharma who is coming off of a 3-6, 4-6 loss to Naomi Osaka in Round 1 at the Miami Open.
Prediction: Sharma in 2

Paula Ormaechea vs Irina Maria Bara

Head-to-Head: Bara leads 1-0

Irina Maria Bara won the only head to head meeting against Paula Ormaechea in a close three-set victory on the clay last September. With that being said, Bara has been in poor form this season. She has yet to win a main draw WTA match and holds an overall record of 1-7 since February. Paula Ormaechea has also yet to win a main draw WTA this season, but has had success on the ITF tour. She reached the final of W25 Anapoima in mid-March. This win would go a long way for both women. I slightly favor Ormaechea who has more tour experience than Bara.
Prediction: Ormaechea in 3

Anna Karolína Schmiedlová vs Yuliana Lizarazo

Head-to-Head: First meeting

Yuliana Lizarazo is currently 28 years old and holds a ranking of World #335. Anna Karolína Schmiedlová is a former World #26 and is looking to get back to that form, holding a 6-6 ranking in all competitions this season. Lizarazo has played just one tour-level match since 2016 and will certainly soak up this moment in her home country. With that being said, I think Schmiedlová rolls in this one.
Prediction: Schmiedlová in 2
