ATP Houston Day 2 Predictions Including Jack Sock vs Cristian Garin

Cristian Garin in action ahead of the French Open.

Day 2 at the ATP event in Houston will have an extremely packed scheduled (if the weather allows it) after Day 1 was a complete wash due to rain. Among the action we expect to see this Tuesday in Houston is a clash between defending champion Cristian Garin and 2015 champion Jack Sock. 2015 finalist Sam Querrey will also hopefully feature this day 2. We also have predictions for matches featuring Nick Kyrgios.

ATP Houston Day 2 Predictions

Daniel Elahi Galan Riveros vs Sam Querrey

Head-to-head: first meeting

Ever since reaching the Mallorca final on grass last year, Querrey is an absolutely abysmal 2-12 at ATP level, with only one win since Wimbledon. It looks like his career is winding down and clay is hardly the surface where you’d expect him to get a second wind, especially against a solid player on the surface like Galan Riveros.
Prediction: Galan Riveros in 2

Mitchell Krueger vs Juan Pablo Varillas

Head-to-head: first meeting

Both players have somewhat similar levels and you’d normally not expect to see either of them in an ATP main draw so this is a tremendous opportunity for both. On this surface, though, Varillas should have a distinct advantage and make it through here.
Prediction: Varillas in 2

Christian Harrison vs Alejandro Tabilo

Head-to-head: first meeting

Harrison might have some extra motivation after beating his brother in the qualifying, but that’s unlikely to be enough against an opponent who’s much more comfortable on the surface and showed great from in the South American clay swing, even coming very close to winning a first career title.
Prediction: Tabilo in 2

Cristian Garin vs Jack Sock

Head-to-head: Sock 1-0 Garin

This is a very evenly matched on paper: both players have won before at this tournament, with Garin being the defending champion, but both have been struggling a lot lately. Sock hasn’t really been able to find himself ever since his title in Paris almost 5 years ago, while Garin had an absolutely awful start to the season and comes into this tournament on the back of five consecutive losses. Both players will be desperate to get some momentum going and this is a match that could genuinely go either way.
Prediction: Garin in 3
