ATP Houston Day 2 Predictions Including Mackenzie McDonald vs Nick Kyrgios

The opening day at ATP Houston was rained out, now day 2 features all the round 1 matches including Nick Kyrgios vs Mackenzie McDonald. We have predictions for every day 2 match on the clay in Texas including Jack Sock vs Cristian Garin.

Jordan Thompson vs Steven Diez

Diez is a lucky loser, he hasn’t won an ATP match since 2019 and is a career journeyman. Thompson won matches at Indian Wells and Miami and was a quarterfinalist in Dallas, clay isn’t his best surface but a loss to Diez would come as a big surprise. Thompson in 2

Tommy Paul vs Peter Gojowczyk

Gojowczyk won their only meeting, Paul has put together a solid season with a 14-8 record, he hasn’t lost an opening round match all season. Gojowczyk was a quarterfinalist in Acapulco, on this surface and in better form, Paul should secure a home win and could be the champion at the end of the week. Paul in 2

Max Purcell vs Pablo Cuevas

Cuevas secured some wins in clay court challengers, the veteran loves this surface but doesn’t have an ATP win this season. Purcell qualified and is at a career high ranking, still on clay Cuevas should be able to work his way into the rallies and dictate play. Cuevas in 2

Mackenzie McDonald vs Nick Kyrgios

Three wins in Miami, and four in Indian Wells shows Kyrgios still has tons of talent despite his poor ranking. McDonald reached the third round in Miami and the second in Indian Wells. McDonald’s performances on clay aren’t overly impressive and Kyrgios should be able to serve his way out of trouble here, but not without dropping a set. Kyrgios in 3
