ATP Marrakech Day 3 Predictions Including Lorenzo Musetti vs Carlos Taberner

Lorenzo Musetti will be in action at the ATP Marrakech Open.

The first round at the 2022 ATP Marrakech will be completed on Wednesday, alongside two matches from the next stage of the event. Lorenzo Musetti will try to follow up his upset over Albert Ramos-Vinolas against Carlos Taberner. Who do you think will advance?

ATP Marrakech Day 3 Predictions

Bernabe Zapata Miralles vs Vit Kopriva

Head-to-head: Kopriva 1-0 Zapata Miralles

The two met in the final qualifying round with Vit Kopriva coming back from 2-4 down in the third to beat Bernabe Zapata Miralles. The Spaniard still received entry into the main draw as a lucky loser and will get a chance to exact revenge merely a day after. If we’ve learned anything from their Tuesday meeting, it’s that it’s likely to be extremely close again. The Spaniard has the higher ceiling with his brilliant forehand and perhaps the peculiar situation will help him reset mentally.

Pavel Kotov vs Tallon Griekspoor

Head-to-head: Kotov 1-0 Griekspoor

Tallon Griekspoor hasn’t quite made the ATP Tour impact you’d expect from someone who raised eight Challenger titles last year. The Dutchman has only won one of his last five matches, but perhaps the return to clay will help him regain his form. Pavel Kotov doesn’t have much experience at this level and is much more dangerous indoors, but having two matches under his belt in Marrakech already (qualifying draw) will be an asset. It’s a great opportunity for both, but the higher upside of the Dutchman gives him a slight advantage.

Lorenzo Musetti vs Carlos Taberner

Head-to-head: Taberner 1-0 Musetti

After almost a year of struggling, it feels like there’s been some definite improvement in Lorenzo Musetti’s game. It hasn’t exactly manifested itself in his results yet (except the quarterfinal showing in Rotterdam), but the Italian played very well to dispatch Albert Ramos Vinolas in the opening round here. Carlos Taberner is a very solid grinder, but also someone who won’t go beyond a certain level, often lacking the weapons to take the initiative on the court. It’s not a great matchup for Musetti but if he’s really back to his best, it’s an opportunity to prove it.

Prediction: Musetti in 3
