ATP Halle Day 3 Predictions
Round of 16
Hubert Hurkacz vs Daniel Altmaier
Head-to-head – Hurkacz 1-0 Altmaier
Hubert Hurkacz produced an impressive performance to dispatch Andrey Rublev in straight sets and once again showed why grass is arguably his best surface. His huge serve, comfort at the net, and ability to shorten points make him a dangerous opponent this time of year. Daniel Altmaier looked solid in his opening match and served well, but Hurkacz possesses a higher level of baseline quality and attacking intent. Expect the Pole to control the match and advance.
Prediction: Hurkacz in 2
Round of 32
Taylor Fritz vs Zizou Bergs
Head-to-head – First Meeting
Taylor Fritz comes into this match in excellent form after reaching the final in Stuttgart. The American has developed into a very reliable grass-court player and possesses the type of game that can trouble anyone on the surface. His serve remains one of the biggest weapons on tour, while his aggressive baseline play allows him to take control of rallies quickly. With Wimbledon approaching, Fritz will be keen to continue building momentum.
Zizou Bergs suffered an early exit in Den Bosch and, while he is a solid baseliner, may struggle to match Fritz’s firepower. The Belgian can be competitive in rallies, but Fritz should have the edge both on serve and in attacking situations. Expect the American to dictate play and come through comfortably.
Prediction: Fritz in 2
Ben Shelton vs Lorenzo Sonego
Head-to-head – Shelton 4-1 Sonego
Ben Shelton arrives full of confidence after capturing the Stuttgart title. Although every match went the distance, the American consistently found solutions in key moments and looked dangerous throughout the tournament. His powerful serve and aggressive first-strike tennis make him a particularly difficult opponent on grass.
Lorenzo Sonego enters as a lucky loser and has struggled to generate momentum throughout 2026. While the Italian is capable of producing high-level tennis on grass, his recent form leaves plenty of questions. Expect Shelton to start strong this week.
Prediction: Shelton in 2
