Seven Tennis Players Retire in September 2025

5. Ashley Kratzer

Ashley Kratzer filed for retirement with the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) in mid-September. She had played her last professional match at the W100 Tyler ITF tournament last October. Kratzer was destined for major success at the top level of women’s tennis when she broke the Top 200 at 19 without a prolific record at the juniors. However, she did not reach her full potential after an unfortunate doping incident in 2020 resulted in a four-year suspension.

6. Julieta Estable

Argentina’s Julieta Estable retires from professional tennis at 28. She is a former Top 300 player on the WTA Tour and played her final tournament on the ITF in her homeland at the start of August. Estable won eight titles at that level. In her retirement post on Instagram, Estable wants to venture into a new career.

7. Makenna Jones

American WTA player Makenna Jones shared her imminent retirement on Instagram. Jones, 27, touched the world’s Top 250 during her career, but after a 16-20 record in 2025 and her waning passion for the sport, chose to hang up her racket.
