Jannik Sinner Reaches 4 Million Instagram Followers After Wimbledon Win

Jannik Sinner’s popularity within tennis and beyond continues to rise after winning his maiden Wimbledon title. Sinner defeated his big rival and two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz 4-6 6-4 6-4 6-4  in Sunday’s final to lift his fourth Grand Slam title.

It was redemption day for Sinner, who atoned for three missed match points in the French Open final 34 days earlier against the same opponent. In a Wimbledon of firsts, which saw Iga Swiatek become the first Polish player to win the singles title, Sinner is now the first Italian, male or female, to win the Wimbledon singles trophy.

The World No. 1 also notched an impressive social media milestone thanks to his Wimbledon success. Sinner, who defeated former and current champions in back-to-back rounds to win the tournament, attained four million followers on Instagram. He consolidates his position as the fourth-most followed active tennis star.

A year ago, Sinner accounted for 2.4 million followers on the Meta platform, but after bagging three of the last four Grand Slams on offer, he has almost doubled that tally. With his four-set win over Alcaraz, Sinner’s following stands at 4.1 million, and that number could increase by hundreds of thousands in the coming days.

Who are the most followed active tennis players on Instagram in 2025?

Sinner still has a long way to go to catch up to the most followed active tennis player. That accolade is reserved for 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic. The Serbian has amassed 16 million followers over the last decade thanks to his unparalleled resume.

And just behind Djokovic is the man Sinner dethroned as Wimbledon champion. Carlos Alcaraz has 7.3 million followers. The Spaniard’s stock rose rapidly after beating Djokovic in the last two Wimbledon finals and winning the longest French Open final in history last month.

Injured Australian Nick Kyrgios ranks third in this list with 4.2 million followers, and it is looking increasingly likely that Sinner will overtake him soon.
