ATP Bastad Day 2 Predictions Including Filip Misolic vs Elmer Moller

The remaining 10 opening-round matches will be played on Tuesday at the ATP Nordea Open in Bastad. Filip Misolic and Elmer Moller clash in a battle of two soon-to-be Top 100 debutants, while home crowd favorite Mikael Ymer is playing in Bastad for the first time since 2021. The Swede takes on Botic van de Zandschulp and leads the head-to-head 3-1. Who do you think will come out on top?

ATP Bastad Day 2 Predictions

Sebastian Ofner vs Damir Dzumhur

Head-to-head: Dzumhur 1-0

It will be a while before the rankings properly reflect it, but Sebastian Ofner’s level since the two heel surgeries has been very high and probably better than ever. He’s coming off a strong performance at Wimbledon, where he took out Tommy Paul and returns to an event he made the quarterfinals in two years ago. Damir Dzumhur’s tricky style is going to be an issue, but the Bosnian will have to be very locked in to handle his opponent’s power here.
Prediction: Ofner in 3

Vit Kopriva vs Hugo Dellien

Head-to-head: Kopriva 3-0

The domination in the head-to-head is pretty surprising here, and they’ve had an interesting sample too–played one each in the years 2016, 2021, and 2024 (first two matches on clay, last one on grass). Vit Kopriva made a big leap this year to break into the Top 100 and looks to be in a safe position there for the time being. He seems closer to the peak of his powers than Hugo Dellien and should be slightly favored here, but let’s not pretend there’s any major quality gap between them.
Prediction: Kopriva in 3

Thiago Monteiro vs Nicolai Budkov Kjaer

Head-to-head: First meeting

Thiago Monteiro snapped a nine-match losing streak to make it through the qualifying in Bastad, and from that perspective, his run comes as a surprise. But then again the Brazilian was in the quarterfinals at this event last year, making a major upset against Casper Ruud. It’s tough to say if his quality is permanently back. Drawing a fellow qualifier doesn’t sound too bad, and while last year’s Wimbledon junior champion Nicolai Budkov Kjaer has a ton of potential, he’s still growing into his game.
Prediction: Monteiro in 2

Mikael Ymer vs Botic van de Zandschulp

Head-to-head: Ymer 3-1

Mikael Ymer returned to tennis after an 18-month suspension in January and so far has been sending mixed signals. You can’t deny his quality, but some injuries have crept in and he hasn’t pushed on like you would expect. At the Challenger level, his best result was a second round in Brazzaville in February. Returning to the big stage might be a good motivator, but presently Botic van de Zandschulp is the favorite in this clash.
Prediction: van de Zandschulp in 2

Filip Misolic vs Elmer Moller

Head-to-head: First meeting

Two players who are sitting very close to a Top 100 debut and could even get there with a run this week. Filip Misolic has been on a tear since the start of May and it needed a massive performance from Mariano Navone to stop him in Braunschweig last week. Meanwhile, Elmer Moller saved five match points in the final to win his third Challenger title in Iasi. This should be fun, but in the battle of spectacular shots Misolic’s forehand is just much more versatile and consistent than the cannon Moller backhand for now.
Prediction: Misolic in 2

About Damian Kust

Damian is a connoisseur of the lower tiers of men's tennis and would probably watch the World No. 700 play a ferret if he could see it from the stands. Always pleased by a beautiful one-handed backhand or classic volleying technique.
