Elsa Jacquemot ahead of WTA Iasi

WTA Iasi Day 2 Predictions Including Ilinca Dalina Amariei vs Elsa Jacquemot

More seeds are in action at the WTA Iasi Open in Romania, with Tuesday featuring an impressive 12 matches at the clay court event. LWOT offers its predictions ahead of the big day, with spots in the second round on the line. Who will advance?

WTA Iasi Day 2 Predictions

Miriam Bianca Bulgaru vs Elena Pridankina

Head-to-head: First meeting

Neither player has many tour-level match wins, as this Center Court match at WTA Iasi should come down to the thinnest of margins. Bulgaru, representing Romania, has to like her chances with a home crowd, and did indeed get her biggest career win here in 2024, over the seeded Tatjana Maria. Pridankina had a better 2025 season at the ITF level, and she may be looking to build more confidence on court. Giving the edge to the home player, but it could go either way.

Prediction: Bulgaru in 3

Panna Udvardy vs Leyre Romero Gormaz

Head-to-head: Romero Gormaz 1-0
Udvardy has had a steady season, though Romero Gormaz won the pair’s only match in 2026 on Turkish clay courts. Romero Gormaz, notably, lost just eight games in qualifying for this main draw, and won a clay-court title earlier this season. I like Udvardy’s chances to flip the switch in this head-to-head, with the Spaniard possibly facing some pressure while competing at a higher-level tournament. I expect a close encounter, however.
Prediction: Udvardy in 3

Katarzyna Kawa vs Simona Waltert

Head-to-head: 2-2
The pair faced off just last week in Sweden, with Waltert racing to a 6-4, 6-1 win. The Swiss does everything a bit better than Kawa at the moment, and notably reached the quarterfinals of this tournament last year. Look for her to continue that momentum on Tuesday.
Prediction: Waltert in 2

Ilinca Dalina Amariei vs Elsa Jacquemot

Head-to-head: First meeting
After building momentum in 2025, Jacquemot has regressed this season, with a 3-11 record that has at times undermined her confidence. Dalina Amariei, the home favorite and qualifier, should like her chances to use the crowd as the underdog. However, she has yet to win a match at the tour level and hasn’t played for much of the season. Anything can happen in these smaller tour-level events, but I expect Jacquemot to work her way into this match and prevail at WTA Iasi.
Prediction: Jacquemot in 3
