Barbora Krejcikova in action ahead of the WTA Eastbourne International.

WTA Athens Day 2 Predictions Including Barbora Krejcikova vs Viktoriya Tomova

Barbora Krejcikova will be the star attraction on Day 2 of the 2026 WTA Athens Open. She starts her campaign in Greece with a match against Viktoriya Tomova. We here at LWOT split the scheduled action between two articles, with Clara Tauson vs Nao Hibino among the matchups.

WTA Athens Day 2 Predictions

Sapfo Sakellardi vs Miriana Tona

Head-to-head: First meeting

This is a terrific chance for both players to register a main-draw victory at a WTA 250-level tournament. Tona is the world No. 384, while home favorite Sakellardi sits at No. 448. Sakellardi received a wild card to the main draw, and Tona is in as a lucky loser. Despite losing in the final round of qualifying, Tona’s greater match practice in Athens might get her over the line.
Prediction: Tona in 3

Anna Blinkova vs Aliaksandra Sasnovich

Head-to-head: Sasnovich 5-0 Blinkova

Sasonovich is Blinkova’s bogey player. Despite not being among the WTA’s top-ranked players, Sasnovich has won ten consecutive sets in this matchup. Blinkova’s only set won was during their first meeting. It is tough to look past the head-to-head in this matchup. Blinkova is actually the more complete player, but her 0-5 record shows how much Sasnovich’s gritty style frustrates her.
Prediction: Sasnovich in 3

Tereza Valentova vs Sofia Costoulas

Head-to-head: Valentova 1-0 Costoulos

This promises to be an enjoyable match between two young talents. Despite the 19-year-old Valentova being two years younger than Costoulos, she is slightly ahead in her development. The Czech possesses a wider array of shots and more firepower than the Belgian. Costoulous might be able to disrupt her on clay, but that task is harder on a hard court.
Prediction: Valentova in 2

Barbora Krejcikova vs Viktoriya Tomova

Head-to-head: Tomova 2-0 Krejcikova

The head-to-head does not matter much here, since these two have not played since 2016. Tomova is the underdog against Krejcikova on any surface, but a hard court probably represents her best chance of causing an upset since Krejcikova’s craftiness would be especially problematic for the Bulgarian on clay and grass. Krejcikova is still pretty likely to reach the Round of 16, though.
Prediction: Krejcikova in 2
