The second round at the All England Club wraps up on Day 4 as 16 women look to take the next step to glory. Budding American star Emma Navarro squares off against Veronika Kudermetova in one of the best matches of the day. Elsewhere on the grounds, we preview Elena Rybakina vs Maria Sakkari, Iga Swiatek vs Caty McNally, and Mirra Andreeva vs Lucia Bronzetti. But who will advance to Round 3?
Wimbledon Women’s Day 4 Predictions
Belinda Bencic vs Elsa Jacquemot
Manan
Bencic is coming out of some serious injury struggles. She has had to withdraw from a few events in recent months. However, in her first match at Wimbledon 2025, she showed some great signs with her movement. She has been a good mover on the grass, and that should help against her inexperienced opponent.
Prediction: Bencic in 2
Jordan
Bencic’s ceiling on grass is much higher than Jacquemot’s. The Frenchwoman needs to find a way to he consistently aggressive, which is much easier said than done. The Swiss starts as an overwhelming favorite in this one.
Prediction: Bencic in 2
Shane
Bencic has the ceiling to make it to the last weekend. She should have no problem dispatching the inexperienced Jacquemot.
Prediction: Bencic in 2
Daria Kasatkina vs Irina-Camelia Begu
Manan
Kasatkina and Begu have both had their fitness struggles on the tour. Kasatkina would be considered a favourite for this contest purely for her experience and good movement on the grass throughout her career. She has struggled this season but has a rich history to boast about in comparison to her opponent, who is still finding her feet on the surface.
Prediction: Kasatkina in 2
Jordan
Kasatkina ended a surprising run of three consecutive grass-court losses in the opening round. She looked back at herself with a consistent performance. Begu is talented and might be able to win a set against an opponent who often plays long matches. I do not think she has enough to win, though.
Prediction: Kasatkina in 3
Shane
Kasatkina is hard to break through against. She is incredibly consistent from the baseline, playing as a backboard against her opponents. Begu does not have the weapons to win this match.
Prediction: Kasatkina in 2
Dayana Yastremska vs Anastasia Zakharova
Manan
Yastremska’s movements on grass are one to be jealous of. It seems that she has found the recipe to be successful on the surface. Zakharova has had her own struggles with injuries and doesn’t move that very well on the surface.
Prediction: Yastremska in 2
Jordan
Yastremska continued her excellent grass-court swing by comprehensively beating Coco Gauff. When the big-hitting Ukrainian gets on a roll, she can be challenging to stop. Zakharova overcame Victoria Azarenka in the previous round, but I think her run will end here.
Prediction: Yastremska in 2
Shane
Yastremska has proven to be a great grass-court player, culminating in a terrific win over No. 2 seed Coco Gauff. When she is playing like this, she can truly beat anyone on tour.
Prediction: Yastremska in 2
Emma Navarro vs Veronika Kudermetova
Manan
Their only previous meeting took place 4 years ago on clay when Kudermetova won comfortably. Navarro was new on the tour, and Kudermetova was in the top 20. However, now the former is in the top 1,0 and the latter, with her injury struggles, has dropped considerably down the rankings. Navarro has also enjoyed more success at the All England Club in comparison to her opponent. The guile of Kudermetova could be a factor, but the American should prevail in the end.
Prediction: Navarro in 3
Jordan
Navarro played very well against Petra Kvitova in the opening round. The American has yet to reach the heights of last season, but she could change all that with another good run at Wimbledon. I do not expect her to have too many problems stifling Kudermetova’s powerful hitting.
Prediction: Navarro in 2
Shane
With many of the top seeds falling early, the draw has opened up nicely for Navarro. Her win over Kvitova in the first round was incredibly impressive, and outside of the French Open, she rarely loses to a lower-seeded player in Slams.
Prediction: Navarro in 2
