WTA Charleston Day 2 Predictions Including Danielle Collins vs Robin Montgomery

The WTA 500 event in Charleston features an excellent field this year, led by last week’s Miami finalist Jessica Pegula, Australian Open champion Madison Keys and last year’s champion here in Charleston Danielle Collins, who is making her tournament debut Tuesday. It is sure to be a very exciting tournament with some high quality tennis all week.

WTA Charleston Day 2 Predictions

Hailey Baptiste vs Olivia Gadecki

Head-to-head: Baptiste 1-0 Gadecki

Based on ranking, this would be quite a close matchup, but Gadecki is on an absolutely terrible streak, having lost her last five matches in a row and 10 of her last 11. Baptiste hasn’t exactly been getting great results so far in 2025 but she has been playing at a much higher level than Gadecki and at this point she should have a very clear edge in this matchup.
Prediction: Baptiste in 2

Shuai Zhang vs Lucia Bronzetti

Head-to-head: Zhang 1-0 Bronzetti

Zhang won in surprisingly straightforward fashion when the pair faced in February in Dubai, but it should be a much closer match this time around. Bronzetti actually played some very nice tennis in Indian Wells and Miami and if she manages to keep that level up she should get her revenge on Zhang and prevail this time around.
Prediction: Bronzetti in 3

Danielle Collins vs Robin Montgomery

Head-to-head: first meeting

Collins has had some very bad luck with draws this year, losing early to the eventual champion in both the Australian Open and Miami. Her level of play has been good and she definitely has a good chance to defend the title she won here in Charleston last year. Montgomery is a good young talent, but at this point she shouldn’t be able to put much resistance against a player of Collins’s level and the defending champion should be able to advance to the next round.
Prediction: Collins in 2
