Some big names are in action on Day 2 of the WTA Credit One Charleston Open, including Madison Keys, the #2 seed and former champion. This will be the 12th appearance at this event for the Australian Open champion, and she will face Caroline Dolehide. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for every match on the slate. But who will advance?
WTA Charleston Day 2 Predictions
Heather Watson vs Iryna Shymanovich
Head-to-Head: first meeting
Heather Watson’s struggles on the tour have been evident as she is still looking for her first tour-level win since last September. She has never won a match at the Charleston Open, but has a great opportunity to do so against Iryna Shymanovich, who has never been inside the top 150. However, Shymanovich has been winning a lot of matches recently at the ITF level and that helped her in the qualifying rounds here. This might be anyone’s match, but I’ll give Watson a little edge due to her past level.
Prediction: Watson in 3
Lauren Davis vs Jamie Loeb
Head-to-Head: first meeting
Lauren Davis won her first Tour-level match since 2023 in Miami recently and will look to win another against the qualifier, Jamie Loeb. Davis is a former quarterfinalist at this event and knows the conditions well. On the other hand, Loeb has never won a tour-level match in her career. I expect Davis to use all her experience and get through this match.
Prediction: Davis in 2
Madison Keys vs Caroline Dolehide
Head-to-Head: Keys 2-0 Dolehide
2019 Charleston Open champion Madison Keys will start her campaign against Caroline Dolehide in the second round. Keys got a bye in the first round, while Dolehide found a great level and easily defeated Elisabetta Cocciaretto. Keys is one of the overwhelming favourites to win the title this week, and she will want to get off to a strong start against a formidable opponent. Dolehide is a good player, but I don’t like her chances here.
Prediction: Keys in 2
