WTA Charleston Open Best Bets Including Madison Keys vs Caroline Dolehide

It’s a new week and a new round of action, this time at the WTA Charleston Open at Daniel Island, South Carolina. Danielle Collins won this tournament last year, which happens to be the oldest professional all-women’s tournament in America. The tournament features a clay court, and Jessica Pegula will be the favorite at the Charleston Open since Aryna Sabalenka opted not to compete. Here are our best bets. Do you agree? Did I hit the mark? Let me know in the comments below.

WTA Charleston Open Round of 64

Keys – Dolehide: Time 20:00

H2H: 3-0

Madison Keys enters Charleston with something to prove. Having been dumped out of Miami by Alexandra Eala, Keys is surely determined to get back to her winning ways against much lower-ranked opponents. Carolina Dolehide enters Charleston with only one quarterfinal appearance in her last three tournaments. She desperately needs a strong performance, and unfortunately for her, she’s facing off against a very motivated Keys.

Best Bet to Make

The books have Keys winning handily, and I agree. Keys is playing extremely well as of late, and Dolehide isn’t, frankly. With only two losses in her last ten games, Keys doesn’t seem primed for an upset. That said, Dolehide is being given tremendous odds if you think she can pull off the upset. At +500, you can take home a hefty payday by taking Dolehide in the upset. Just be aware that this isn’t a likely outcome and would require you to have specialized knowledge about this matchup that I simply don’t have.

That being said, Dolehide winning is a value bet for sure.

Anisimova – Kudermetova: Time 01:30

H2H: 0-2

Amanda Anisimova vs Veronika Kudermetova is a really interesting match for several reasons. The biggest reason is that Anisimova enters the match as a favorite, having won seven of her last ten matches. Kudermetova enters the match having only won six of her last ten matches. With all of that said, Kudermetova has not ever cared about “favorites” in the past, having won both of their previous matches. Not only is Kudermetova undefeated against Anisimova, but she also has a heavy victory against her on clay.

Best Bet to Make

The books have Anisimova as the betting favorite and I am inclined to disagree. The last year in which Anisimova had a winning record on clay was 2022 when she went 13-4. Since then, she’s 2-5.  Kudermetova is 91-66 on clay throughout her career, and she’s 12-10 since 2022. Not only has she played on court far more often than Anisimova, she’s also done so at a major tournament, so we know she can do it at a high level.

That being said, Kudermetova winning is a value bet for sure.

Keys – Dolehide: Time 20:00

H2H: 6-2

Given the fact that Dolehide has already played on clay this year and has done much better throughout her career on clay than Keys, a prop bet involving Keys winning, but also losing a set to Dolehide might be too tempting to pass up. Dolehide is 100-60 in her career on clay while Keys is a much less impressive 89-50. That said, Keys did have a better 2024 than Dolehide when it came to clay court matches.

Best Bet to Make

A solid prop bet that allows you to take Madison Keys and still make a decent chunk of change is DraftKings’ offering of Keys winning 2 sets to Dolehide’s 1 at +320. If you think Dolehide can push Keys into a third set, then there’s no reason not to take this bet. You can triple you money with this one, but Dolehide would need to perform at a level higher than she has been.

That being said, Keys to win 2 sets to 1 is a value bet for sure.
