Today in Doha, ZIzou won against Bautista-Agut in straight sets. In the opening set, Bergs dominated on his serve, not offering any breakpoints. In the second set, Bergs had a chance to close out the match at 5-3 but fumbled under pressure. He eventually won the second set in a tiebreak.
Daniil Medvedev has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Marseille, Medvedev reached the semifinals, losing against Medjedovic in straight sets. It has been a disappointing season so far for a Russian. Earlier this season, Tien upset Medvedev in the second round of the Australian Open. It is his second appearance in Doha. Today in the opening round, as we predicted, Daniil defeated Khachanov in three tight sets. In his debut campaign in 2023, Medvedev won the title against Murray in the final.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Medvedev is the favorite in this matchup, but we disagree. Bergs is playing his best tennis and is on the verge of breaking into the top 50. On the other hand, Medvedev has been struggling with his form for the last couple of months. We expect Bergs to keep this match tight.
That being said, Bergs covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Matteo Berrettini has lost three of his last five matches. The last match he played before the ATP Doha was in Rotterdam when he lost in the opening round against Griekspoor, as we predicted. So far this season, Matteo has played only five matches and holds a losing 2-3 record. It is his third appearance in Doha. Today, in the opening round, as we had predicted, Matteo upset Djokovic in straight sets. The last time he played here was in 2019, losing against Bautista-Agut in the opening round. He has never made it past the second round.
Tallon Griekspoor has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Rotterdam, Tallon lost in the second round against Tsitsipas in three tight sets. Today in Doha, Griekspoor defeated Struff in the opening round in two tiebreaks. After losing his serve at the beginning of the opening set, Tallon stepped up his level and quickly turned the set around. In the second set, Griekspoor was excellent under pressure, saving breakpoints and even one set point in a tiebreak.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Matteo is the slight favorite in this matchup, and we agree. He played an outstanding match against Djokovic today. The last time they played against each other was in Rotterdam indoor, when Griekspoor won in three tight sets. These conditions in Doha are better for Matteo’s game, and we expect him to win tomorrow.
That being said, Berrettini winning is a value bet.
