ATP 500 Rotterdam 1/16-Finals
Berrettini – Griekspoor: Time TBA
H2H: first meeting
Matteo Berrettini has won three of his last five matches. At the beginning of the season in Brisbane, he lost against Thompson in three tight sets. The last match he played was in Melbourne two weeks ago, where he lost against Rune in four tight sets. Matteo has never played in Rotterdam. He also has never had remarkable results on indoor hard courts.
Tallon Griekspoor has lost three of his last five matches. So far this season, Griekspoor has only played in the Australian Open and ATP Montpellier this week. As we predicted, he lost in the opening round of the Australian Open against Hurkacz in straight sets. Griekspoor reached the quarterfinals this week in Montpellier, losing against de Jong in straight sets as we predicted. Last season, Griekspoor did not have any remarkable results. It is his tenth appearance in Rotterdam. The previous year in Rotterdam, Griekspoor lost in straight sets against Sinner in the semifinals. A year before, Tallon also reached the semifinals, again losing against Sinner.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Griekspoor is the underdog in this matchup, but we disagree. Tallon played well this week in Montpellier. He played in consecutive semifinals in Rotterdam and will have the crowd on his side. On the other hand, Berrettini has played only three matches this season and lost two of them. We expect Griekspoor to be a better player and win.
That being said, Griekspoor winning is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Tallon Griekspoor winning @2.38 @bet365
Cobolli – Hurkacz: Time TBA
H2H: 0-2
Flavio Cobolli has lost four straight matches. He started this season well, winning 2/3 matches in the United Cup. Two weeks ago in Melbourne, Flavio lost in the opening round of the Australian Open against Etcheverry in four tight sets. This week in Montpellier, Flavio lost against de Jong in the opening round, as we predicted. It is his second appearance in Rotterdam. His first and only appearance happened in 2022 when he failed to qualify for the main draw tournament.
Hubert Hurkacz has won three of his last five matches. Hubert Hurkacz has won three of his previous five matches. So far this season, Hubert has played only in two tournaments. At the beginning of the season, Hubert played in the United Cup. He lost the first two matches. However, after that, Hurkacz won consecutive matches and brought Poland to the finals, where they faced the USA. The last match he played was at the Australian Open, losing against Kecmanovic in the second round. Last year in Rotterdam, Hurkacz lost in the second round against Griekspoor in three tight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Hurkacz is the favorite in this matchup, and we agree. He is a better indoor hard-court player than Cobolli. Flavio struggled this season on fast courts. We expect Hurkacz to dominate in this match and win easily.
That being said, Hurkacz winning in straight sets is a value bet.
Value bet/ the best odds: Hubert Hurkacz winning 2-0 @2.10 @bet365
