WTA Brisbane Day 4 Predictions Including Emma Navarro vs Kimberly Birrell

The remaining eight second-round women’s singles matches are on the Wednesday schedule at the 2025 WTA Brisbane International. Top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka advanced to the next stage of the event yesterday; now it’s No. 2 seed Emma Navarro taking the court. The American will face Kimberly Birrell, who was the last opponent she defeated in 2024. Who do you think will prevail?

WTA Brisbane Day 4 Predictions

Dayana Yastremska vs Anastasia Potapova

Head-to-head: Yastremska 1-0

It’s a big month coming up for Dayana Yastremska, who will be defending over half of her ranking points at the Australian Open. That big run didn’t massively change the trajectory of her career as the big-hitting Ukrainian continues to be extremely erratic. She even tried to get a bit of a head start at the WTA 125 in Limoges in December, but hit herself off the court against Carole Monnet. Even if Anastasia Potapova has some stuff to figure out herself after last season, she’s a more complete player and a better mover.
Prediction: Potapova in 3

Yue Yuan vs Marta Kostyuk

Head-to-head: First meeting

Marta Kostyuk finally made a big leap forward last season, now it’s a question of whether she can keep that good work coming. The Ukrainian had some great performances in Australia in 2024 and should be pretty dangerous here again. While Yue Yuan’s forehand ball-striking can be a nightmare to face when on, Kostyuk is all-rounded enough to extend the points on the defense and eventually get Yuan’s feet moving. That’s where the Chinese player tends to fade away a bit.
Prediction: Kostyuk in 3

Linda Noskova vs Anca Todoni

Head-to-head: First meeting

Don’t sleep on Anca Todoni, who’s got everything required to make a big breakthrough this year. She’s started very well too with three consecutive straight-set wins already. Her complete game and all the match rhythm she’s picked up will make her a tough rival for Linda Noskova here. The Czech hasn’t fully figured out how to best apply her game yet and might be a little vulnerable in this season opener here. But maybe she’ll have just enough time to recover from a slower start.
Prediction: Noskova in 3

Emma Navarro vs Kimberly Birrell

Head-to-head: Navarro 1-0

Kimberly Birrell was the last opponent Emma Navarro defeated before calling it a season last year. And what a season it was with the American making a Top 10 breakthrough and being so consistent all-year-long. We’re not expecting her to drop off that much in 2025 and this looks like a pretty comfortable opener for her. While Kimberly Birrell already has a match under her belt this year, she doesn’t possess the kind of power to bully Navarro around the court.
Prediction: Navarro in 2
