Day 3 at the WTA event in Rabat will surely feature plenty of exciting matches. While most people are eagerly waiting for Roland Garros to start next week, these tournaments the week before always offer some very interesting matchups, with lesser known players doing their best for a chance to win a rare title at WTA level. As always, we here at LWOT predict all the matches for you. Tuesday’s eight matches are split between this and a separate article.

WTA Rabat Day 3 Predictions

Maria Lourdes Carle vs Arantxa Rus

Head-to-head: Rus 1-0 Carle

It should be a very even matchup, as was their previous meeting last year, also on clay. Neither player has been having a particularly great clay season so far, but Carle did have a decent run in Madrid and might be the ever so slightly better player on this surface based on current form.
Prediction: Carle in 3

Lucia Bronzetti vs Malak El Allami

Head-to-head: first meeting

This is arguably the most one-sided matchup of the day and one of the most one-sided of the year, with #48 Bronzetti taking on #1143 Allami. On paper, Bronzetti should have a huge edge and anything other than a very comfortable straight set win for the Italian would be a considerable surprise.
Prediction: Bronzetti in 2

Berfu Cengiz vs Viktoriya Tomova

Head-to-head: first meeting

On paper, Tomova should be a very clear favorite given the massive difference in ranking, but Cengiz has been winning a lot of matches lately, even if at a lower level, including a title at Bastad last week. She is clearly comfortable on this surface, in good form and capable of causing issues if Tomova isn’t at her best.
Prediction: Tomova in 3

Lin Zhu vs Yafan Wang

Head-to-head: Zhu 4-3 Wang

This is an extremely unpredictable matchup, both players are at a very similar level overall and the previous history of their matchup shows that there is basically nothing to separate them. Both are on bad losing streaks at the moment too and desperately need a win to get some momentum going ahead of Roland Garros. It’s a match that could genuinely go either way.
Prediction: Wang in 3
