Just eight players remain in contention for the WTA Den Bosch Open title after an entertaining start to the grass-court season in the Netherlands. As always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for all four quarterfinals in s-Hertogenbosch, but who will secure their spot in the quarterfinals?
WTA Den Bosch Quarterfinal Predictions
Viktoria Hruncakova vs Ashlyn Krueger
Head-to-head: first meeting
Viktoria Hruncakova advanced to the quarterfinals at the WTA Den Bosch Open after a pretty bizarre match with Bianca Andreescu. The Canadian had eight set points in the opener, but ended up losing the match in straights. Now she gets to face Ashlyn Krueger, who’s already made her fair share of upsets this week as well, particularly against Victoria Azarenka. The talented American has been looking for a breakthrough like this, maybe this is her chance. For what it’s worth, she seems to be a natural on grass.
Prediction: Krueger in 3

Ekaterina Alexandrova vs Emina Bektas
Head-to-head: first meeting
Emina Bektas still hasn’t lost on grass this year after nine matches, winning an ITF event in Kurume. This is where it could get tricky though as while the 30-year-old is in the form of her career, she has rarely faced opposition of Ekaterina Alexandrova’s quality. The Russian won this tournament last year and has that sort of devastating power and flat-hitting combination that can be extremely tough to handle on the grass.
Prediction: Alexandrova in 2

Veronika Kudermetova vs Celine Naef
Head-to-head: first meeting
In her previous three appearances at the WTA Den Bosch Open, Veronika Kudermetova always made the quarterfinals. She’s just done it again, this time returning as the top seed of the event. Celine Naef is a very talented junior and has just proven it again by making it to this stage in her WTA Tour debut. This will likely be a step too far though and Kudermetova’s grass excellence should help her come out on top.
Prediction: Kudermetova in 2

Aliaksandra Sasnovich vs Liudmila Samsonova
Head-to-head: Samsonova 1-0 Sasnovich
Aliaksandra Sasnovich will be happy with making the quarterfinals here as this season hadn’t been going as planned for her and she actually hadn’t reached the last eight stage at any event yet. The Belarusian is always dangerous on her day, but she’s facing an expert grass-courter in Liudmila Samsonova. The Russian was in so much trouble against Lena Papadakis in round one and managed to handle Polina Kudermetova much more comfortably.
Prediction: Samsonova in 3
