Granollers/Zeballos – Koolhof/Mektic: 12.11.2024 18:00 CEST
H2H: 0-3

Granollers and Zeballos have lost three of their last five matches. They have also lost three straight matches. Marcel and Horacio had their last win over a month ago in Shanghai, where they won their opening match against Reyes-Varela and Smith J-P. Last week in Paris, Granollers and Zeballos lost their opening match against Skupski and Venus in straight sets. It was overall a tight match, where they failed to perform under pressure. Here in Turin, Zeballos and Granollers lost their opening match against Heliovaara and Patten in straight sets. They were terrible on return, and just could not anticipate their serve. So far this season, Granollers and Zeballos have had their biggest results on the clay courts. They won the Masters title in Rome, and shortly after that reached the semifinals of the French Open, where they fell short to Arevalo and Pavic in three tight sets. Horacio and Marcel also had some success on the hard courts, where they won the Masters title in Montreal, and reached the final in Indian Wells. Last year in Turin, Granollers and Zeballos ended up being the first in the group, winning all three group matches. After that, in the semifinals, they defeated Bopanna and Ebden in straight sets. However, they ended the tournament as runners-up, losing against Ram and Salisbury in the final.

Koolhof and Mektic have won four of their last five matches. Last week in Paris, Mektic and Koolhof won the Masters title in Paris, winning against Glasspool and Pavlasek in three tight sets. Nikola and Wesley were great in the match tiebreak, where they dominated from the very start. Here in Turin, Koolhof and Mektic lost their opening match against Purcell and Thompson in straight sets. They looked emotionally exhausted on the court, so this will be a very important match for them to bounce back and keep their hopes alive here in Turin. Mektic and Koolhof were terrible in the first set tiebreak, where they just made too many unforced errors. After that, in the second set, both of them looked frustrated, and were just terrible on their serve. So far this season, Koolhof and Mektic have had their biggest results on the hard courts, where they have won five titles. Three of them were at the Masters level, where they were dominant throughout the whole year. Just a couple of weeks ago, Koolhof and Mektic won the title in Shanghai, and then proceeded to reach the final in Basel, just a week after that. The last time Mektic and Koolhof played together at the Nitto ATP Finals was in 2020, when they ended up winning the tournament.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, this should be a 50-50 match. We believe that, at this moment, Koolhof and Mektic are the better players on the indoor hard courts such as this one. They have also won all three head-to-head meetings, and we expect them to continue in that fashion tomorrow as well.

That being said, Koolhof/Mektic winning is a value bet.
