ATP Indian Wells Day 2 Predictions

Roberto Marcora vs Pedro Martinez

Head to head – First Meeting

Pedro Martinez has had an okayish 2021, but the Challenger tournament win post-US Open will do his confidence a world of good. The challenger event was played on clay courts and it’ll be a challenge adjusting to the hard courts at Indian Wells. The Spaniard has been drawn against qualifier Roberto Marcora who has played just six matches at the ATP main draw level in twelve years. Expect Martinez to waltz past Marcora.
Prediction: Martinez in 3

Ernesto Escobedo vs Holger Rune

Head to head – First Meeting

Holger Rune showed a lot of promise against Novak Djokovic at the US Open and has kind of lived up to it post the last Grand Slam of the year. The 18 year old Danish player has reached three quarter finals since and these ten days can provide a great launching pad for the talented Rune. Ernesto Escobedo has played well to qualify for the main draw but the American lacks the quality to get past a consistent Rune.
Prediction: Rune in 2

Marton Fucsovics vs Gianluca Mager

Head to head – First Meeting

Marton Fucsovics is a much better player than the recent run of results he’s put up shows. The Hungarian is a solid ball striker and the conditions at Indian Wells should suit his game style well. Gianluca Mager is a tough player and is likely to fight till the very last but Fucsovics should be the one to progress on the back of his superior ball striking.
Prediction: Fucsovics in 2

John Millman vs Jack Sock

Head to head – First Meeting

Has to be one of the matches of the day. Jack Sock is a shadow of himself in the singles arena but is still capable of stringing together points only he can. The American will be looking to draw home crowd support but that’s not going to deter the workman like John Millman. The Australian is as tough as they come and while Millman hasn’t been in great form of late, he should still be the one committing less errors and keeping it more consistent than the wayward Sock.
Prediction: Millman in 3
