ATP Sofia Open Quarterfinal Predictions Including Jannik Sinner vs Alex De Minaur

Alex De Minaur Antwerp 2020

We have officially reached the quarterfinals of the ATP Sofia Open, the last tournament of the season, and we have already witnessed two major upsets. Let’s predict what will happen in all four quarterfinal matches.

ATP Sofia Day Day Four Predictions

Radu Albot vs Adrian Mannarino

Head to Head: First meeting

Radu Albot caused the shock of the tournament, sending off #1 seed Denis Shapovalov quite convincingly in straight sets, and that should give him some confidence in his next match. Mannarino has only lost one set en route to the quarterfinals, beating Martin Klizan in three and Egor Gerasimov in two, so he should be ready for his toughest test.
Prediction: Albot in 3

John Millman vs Vasek Pospisil

Head to Head: Pospisil 1-0 Millman

The lone Canadian left in the draw will try to extend his season by one more match while the Aussie is coming off winning the title in Nur-Sultan last week and played some amazing tennis to get by Gilles Simon in a three-set win. The conditions of the court are very slow, and it’s playing almost like a clay court, which suits the Aussie game of becoming a human bounce board. Pospisil has been playing some outstanding tennis and looks in great shape. He admitted in his post-match press conference after his win vs Jan Lennard Struff that he had to take five days off and pulled out of Cologne due to being mentally fried but now says he feels fresh and ready to fight.
Prediction: Pospisil in 3

Richard Gasquet vs Salvatore Caruso

Head to Head: First meeting

Salvatore Caruso most likely is the surprise of the tournament pulling, off the upset against Felix Auger-Aliassime to set up a quarterfinal with the Frenchman. Richard Gasquet has been clinical in his past two matches and looks in form to make a serious run at the trophy. Caruso will be on a high after his big upset and I think that might prove detrimental but the slower conditions seem to suit him well.
Prediction: Gasquet in 2

Alex De Minaur vs Jannik Sinner

Head to Head: Sinner 1-0 De Minaur

This is most likely going to be the match of the day with two next-gen players going at it for a place in the final four and I’m expecting a full-on battle royale. Both players won straight-set matches to make it to the final eight so fatigue shouldn’t be a factor and both players are looking to finish the season strong.
Prediction: De Minaur in 3
