WTA Pan Pacific Open Day 4 Predictions Including Sloane Stephens vs Camila Giorgi

Toray Pan Pacific Open Camila Giorgi

Day 4 at the Toray Pan Pacific Open will cover the remaining second-round matches. The third seed Sloane Stephens and second seed Kiki Bertens will be on upset alert from the start. Who do you think will prevail?

WTA Pan Pacific Open Day 4 Predictions

Yulia Putinsteva vs Varvara Flink

Head-to-head: Putinsteva 1-0

The Kazakh is as solid as a rock and she usually takes the matches she is supposed to win. It’s tough to expect Flink to hit with enough precision to make her uncomfortable behind the baseline. Putinsteva has been in steady form for quite some time and she should continue her good run here.
Prediction: Putinsteva in 2

Donna Vekic vs Misaki Doi

Head-to-head: Vekic 2-1

Misaki Doi blowing out Mladenovic was one we didn’t expect, but the Japanese’s great run has to end somewhere. The Hiroshima runner-up will play Donna Vekic now, who’s not nearly as erratic as the Frenchwoman. Vekic is coming off her best Grand Slam result and looked good in her first-round win over Caroline Garcia. The Croat has already beaten Doi twice this season. She’s a very clean ball-striker and will have enough power to dictate the rallies here.

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova vs Kiki Bertens

Head-to-head: Bertens 5-2

Bertens won this one at the US Open and has a 2-1 lead over Pavlyuchenkova this year. However, the Russian showed some great tennis to beat Yastremska and in these faster Asian swing conditions, she will have a chance to get revenge. Bertens lost her first match last week to Ajla Tomljanovic and she might be out quickly to another hard-hitter here.
Prediction: Pavlyuchenkova in 3

Sloane Stephens vs Camila Giorgi

Head-to-head: 2-2

A classic battle between hard-hitting and counterpunching. Stephens won just one match in her last four tournaments and she would probably prefer to contest this on a slower hard court. The Italian is one of the most erratic players on the tour and the outcome should depend on her performance. Taking current form into account, Giorgi should get a good shot at the third seed.Prediction: Giorgi in 3
