To be an elite quarterback in the NFL, it takes a lot of dedication to master the craft. For Bears rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, legendary QBs like Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady were sources of inspiration and admiration. As the No. 1 overall pick, Williams faces high expectations to deliver a Super Bowl victory for the Chicago Bears, let alone eight of them. That’s precisely one of Williams’ goals. To win eight Super Bowls, more than Brady’s seven Super Bowl titles. With such lofty goals, Brady responded to Williams’ quest for supremacy.

Tom Brady’s Response

During an appearance on NFL Network, Tom Brady was asked about Caleb Williams’ goal to surpass him, and he offered some honest insight.

“Everyone’s going to find different ways for motivation, and that’s certainly a way Caleb can find it. A lot of people are going to find different motivations. I found them just in the ways that I did that were useful for me. I think that there’s a lot that goes into winning one (Super Bowl). You gotta set your goals high, and I would never tell anyone they can’t achieve anything because if people would’ve told me I couldn’t achieve anything that would of been discouraging, and I don’t want people to discourage young athletes one bit. I think people should always reach for the stars.”

“Certainly young quarterbacks in the league they got a lot of opportunities. But their career is going to be made by what they choose to do, and the work they put in, and the relationships they develop with their teammates, and the organizations they impact. They should have high goals, but at the same time, they’re going to have to work hard to achieve them. And I really look forward to seeing that process unfold. That’s where the hard part comes for sure.”

A fitting response to Williams’ ambitious goals. As a guy who’s been through the whole process, Brady understands that winning a Super Bowl is extremely hard, but it’s always good to have high expectations for yourself. During Brady’s inauguration into the New England Patriot’s Hall of Fame, he delivered one of the most influential messages of this decade.

“To be successful at anything, the truth is you don’t have to be special. You just have to be what most people aren’t: consistent, determined and willing to work for it.”

As a former sixth-round pick without exceptional physical traits, Brady’s message epitomizes the resilience of the human spirit. On the other hand, Caleb is blessed with physical gifts and a strong supporting cast, which should give him a promising chance to surpass Brady’s Super Bowl record. However, achieving this will require unwavering consistency in his approach to every practice, meeting, and game.

Believe in Yourself

Tom Brady recently hosted a group of rookies, including Caleb Williams, and shared a powerful message with them. He emphasized the distinction between being a star and a champion, stating, “There should be nobody in your life that has higher expectations for you than you.”

For Caleb, he must cultivate the best work ethic he can. The expectations for him are immense, not only because he was the first overall pick but also because Chicago has long awaited a savior at quarterback. The city, plagued by mediocre quarterback play, is in need of a change, and Williams aspires to be that transformative figure. By fostering self-confidence and building strong connections with his teammates, Williams can achieve success at the highest level.

Brady is excited to see what Williams can accomplish in the NFL and supports his goal of surpassing him to become the greatest quarterback the league has ever seen.
