The Chicago Bears have fired Matt Eberflus, a decision that should have been made a long time ago. Bears fans are rejoicing, and so are some players. Bears Safety Jaquan Brisker posted a 4-word response after Eberflus’ firing, taking shots at his former head coach.

Bears Jaquan Brisker Fires Shots With 4-Word Response After Eberflus’ Firing
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Jaquan Brisker tweeted, “God don’t make mistakes,” shortly after Matt Eberflus was fired as head coach of the Chicago Bears. Brisker, one of the most outspoken Bears players on social media, captured a shared sentiment within the locker room. His feelings are valid. The Bears were 14-32 under Eberflus and lost in the craziest ways possible.
This season alone featured a game-losing Hail Mary against the Washington Commanders, a blocked field goal against the Green Bay Packers, and a disastrous ending against the Detroit Lions. Out of 221 NFL coaches with at least 20 games decided by seven points or fewer, Eberflus ranks last, with a .227 win percentage (5-17).
The writing was on the wall: the Bears needed change, and Brisker was undoubtedly happy about that. If that’s how Brisker felt about Eberflus, imagine the other guys in the locker room.
Cole Kmet and D.J. Moore’s Response to Losing Against the Lions
The last game of Matt Eberflus’ coaching career couldn’t have been any worse. With nearly 30 seconds remaining in the game, Eberflus failed to call a timeout when the offense clearly had no clue what was happening. Caleb Williams’ final pass attempt came up short as the clock hit zero, sealing another heartbreaking loss. The Bears had every opportunity to win but instead found another way to lose—a hallmark of Eberflus’ coaching.
Team captains voiced their frustrations after the Lions game, emphasizing how dysfunctional things had become under Eberflus.
Cole Kmet was one of those players who expressed confusion about the final moments:
“Honestly, I don’t even know. I all of a sudden see everybody come off the field, and the game’s over. So I was like, ‘What the f*** just happened.'”
D.J. Moore also chimed in and was blunt about what happened, taking a subtle jab at Eberflus for not calling the timeout:
“Like I said, I don’t even know why we didn’t take a timeout.”
Outlook Going Forward
The Bears join the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints in the search for their next head coach. It’s the first time in Bears history the team fired the head coach midseason. A move as major as this shows the majority of the blame was on Matt Eberflus. Bad decisions were made on his end everywhere, from coordinator hires to challenging plays to game management. He failed to elevate a Bears team brimming with talent and make his mark during his time as the head coach.
The Bears now face a turning point. With a rookie quarterback showing promise against NFC North rivals and a fresh start on the horizon with a new head coach, the franchise has a chance to reset
