Pro Bowler wide receiver Amari Cooper‘s injury may spell the end of his run with the Buffalo Bills and the Ravens, Chargers may pursue him in 2025 free agency. The NFL offseason is still months away, but plenty of key players are heading into next year’s free agency looking for a new home. However, one may include Cooper who’s been playing with a rotating cast of quarterbacks since 2023, recording 1,250 yards and five touchdowns on 72 catches. Cooper was desperate to find a legitimate team to prove his abilities before finding himself in another trade recently made by the Bills to acquire him.

Originally selected in the 2015 NFL Draft, the veteran was hoping to establish in a new scenery after leaving a disastrous team but injuries are getting the best of him. The seven-time 1,000-yard receiver injured his wrist blocking a defender in week 8 and he’s still battling trying to come back. Cooper may not have a history of having prolonged injuries, but he could wind up with a new team if the Bills feel like he isn’t worth the risk. The Bills were hoping his addition could improve the aerial attack for quarterback Josh Allen but nothing can change if he’s not playing.

Although he’s looking to come back, he may not be fully healthy to be at his peak which the Bills are hoping he will be. The Bills have plenty of receivers like Keon Coleman, Khalil Shakir, Mack Hollins and Curtis Samuel so a veteran like Cooper may be the least of their concern. Cooper is aging and he doesn’t have plenty of ball in him so signing with the Ravens, Chargers might bring out the best in his Pro Bowl self.

Help for Lamar Jackson

The Baltimore Ravens have one of the most dominant offenses this season since improving their ground game with Derrick Henry. Lamar Jackson has all the right tools including two security blankets from Isaiah Likely and Mark Andrews. After trading for Diontae Johnson, the team is looking to be ferocious with their offense this postseason but it all must stay intact if they want to make an appearance in the Super Bowl. The Ravens still have a lot of questions in their secondary and pass-rushing unit that may hold them back.

However, the question is whether or not the offense will be able to compensate for that? Probably not. There’s no word on if they will bring back Johnson next season but they’re giving him a larger role to prove his worth. The Ravens should sign Amari Cooper if they fall short of the Super Bowl as Cooper is still a consistent receiver in the league who could put up big numbers alongside Zay Flowers while Rashod Bateman focuses on the slot.

SuperBowl Aspirations

Jim Harbaugh’s team is close to being a complete team but they have plenty of woes to address which is why they may be nothing but a first-round exit this season. However, the running game is improving with J.K. Dobbins leading the pack despite Gus Edwards missing time. They should bring in a superstar receiver like Cooper to help Justin Herbert thrive better in the passing attack. He’s still excelling despite the inconsistency he’s getting from wideouts like Quentin Johnston and DJ Chark.

Rookie Ladd McConkey and Joshua Palmer will likely be their top two targets while Cooper could come in next season to make this passing game explosive again. After releasing Mike Williams and trading Keenan Allen, it’s hard to see that the offense is the same. However, Cooper’s addition could make the Chargers an AFC heavyweight if they play their cards right.
