week 9 quarterback rankings

The NFL season is in full swing, and it’s time to set your lineups for Week 9 of the fantasy football season. Russell Wilson and Brock Purdy are on a bye this week, while Jordan Love and Derek Carr are both questionable with injuries. Below are the quarterback rankings, tiers, and analysis to help you navigate your lineup decisions for Week 9.

Quarterback Rankings for Week 9 Fantasy Football

Tier 1: Superstar Quarterbacks

1. Jalen Hurts
2. Lamar Jackson
3. Josh Allen
4. Jayden Daniels
5. Joe Burrow

Hurts had a season-high 35.14 fantasy points in Week 8, finishing as the overall QB1 on the week. He had three rushing touchdowns and one passing touchdown in the victory. This marks his fifth top-ten fantasy QB finish out of seven games this season. In Week 9, Hurts has a favorable matchup against the Jaguars, who are in the top five for most fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks. Given his recent performance and the upcoming matchup, Hurts claims the top spot in the Week 9 quarterback rankings.

Despite coming into Week 8 as questionable, Daniels played and delivered a strong performance, scoring 22.24 fantasy points. He capped the game with a thrilling Hail Mary on the final play to secure the win. Looking ahead to Week 9, Daniels has a favorable matchup against the Giants, making him a great option again.

Tier 2: Low-End QB1s

6. Jordan Love**
7. Jared Goff
8. Bo Nix
9. Patrick Mahomes
10. Baker Mayfield
11. Caleb Williams
12. Kyler Murray

Nix has been on fire lately, finishing as a top-ten fantasy quarterback in three of the last four weeks. In Week 8, he posted a season-high 29.76 fantasy points, the second-highest of the week. His Week 9 matchup against the Ravens is promising, as they recently allowed 334 passing yards to Jameis Winston and rank among the top five for most fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks. Given his recent form and favorable matchup, Nix moves into the top ten of the Week 9 quarterback rankings and is positioned for another strong performance.

Mahomes had his best game of the season, finishing with 18.18 fantasy points. It was not good enough for him to get his first top-ten finish of the year, but it was still his highest fantasy score. However, he has still thrown an interception in every game this year. Mahomes has a great matchup next week against the Buccaneers, who have given up the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks on the year. This is a great opportunity for Mahomes to get his first top-ten finish in 2024.

**Love left the Week 8 game with a groin injury and is questionable for Week 9.

Tier 3: Mid-Tier QB2s

13. Sam Darnold
14. Dak Prescott
15. Geno Smith
16. Matthew Stafford

Darnold and the Vikings’ hot start to the season has slowed down with two straight losses. Darnold has finished outside the top ten of QBs in three straight weeks after being in the top ten for the previous three. However, Week 9 presents a favorable opportunity against the Colts, who are among the top ten in most fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks. Darnold has a solid chance to rebound in this matchup and return to form as a fantasy starter.

Stafford finished as a top-20 quarterback for the first time since Week 1. Having both Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua did wonders for the Rams offense. He had three touchdowns in the first six games and four in Week 8. Stafford becomes a matchup-dependent option for the rest of the year, starting next week against the Seahawks.

Tier 4: Streaming Options

17. Derek Carr**
18. C.J. Stroud
19. Tua Tagovailoa
20. Kirk Cousins
21. Anthony Richardson
22. Trevor Lawrence

Tagovailoa returned from his concussion with a solid showing, throwing for 234 yards and a touchdown to finish with 14.66 fantasy points. His presence brought a huge improvement to the Dolphins offense, giving a boost to the entire team. Although next week’s matchup against the Bills defense is a challenging one, Tagovailoa’s return brings renewed confidence to Miami’s playmakers. He remains a viable start, albeit with a bit more risk, given Buffalo’s strong defensive unit.

**Carr is still questionable with an oblique injury.
