New York Jets wide receiver, Mike Williams is officially on the trade blocking after acquiring Davante Adams and the Chiefs, Saints are the best possible fits. According to multiple sources, the Jets are trying to move on from Williams since the team has plenty of receivers on their roster. After signing a one-year deal worth $10 million with the Jets, the veteran will look to find a new home before this year’s trade deadline. The Jets waited for Williams to be clear from his ACL injury, later being a useful gadget in Aaron Rodgers’ 53% of snaps.
In his final game, Williams couldn’t find his footing, especially since receiving blame for the late interception to seal the loss against Buffalo. This comes as no surprise why the Jets are now moving on since Williams probably doesn’t want to stay around in New York himself. Originally selected in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Clemson product is still one of the most elite wideouts in the league notching 4,926 yards and 317 receptions for 31 touchdowns. The Chargers released Williams to save cap space while trading Keenan Allen to Chicago.
Williams has two 1,000-yard seasons under his NFL tenure so as long as he stays healthy, he could still be explosive for any roster. He probably won’t receive a long-term deal but one to see if he could make an immediate impact for at least a postseason run.

Potential Trade Destinations
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs could look to bolster their wide receiving room after losing Marquise Brown and Rashee Rice. It might seem logical to bring in a veteran like Williams for another Super Bowl run. However, Andy Reid seems keen on the idea that they probably want to sign or trade for someone who knows their system. This doesn’t mean trading for a superstar talent won’t be on the minds of the front office.
Two AFC teams made two huge trade acquisitions this week, Davante Adams heading to the Jets and Amari Cooper to Buffalo. This will probably motivate them to grab a receiver to work around rookie Xavier Worthy and other players elevated from the practice squad. No one should be surprised Williams became the No. 1 receiver for Patrick Mahomes since they are lacking size in the wideout room.
New Orleans Saints
New Orleans should be looking to improve their passing game behind Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed. The Saints may be without Derek Carr but it doesn’t mean they can’t add any more talent to make rookie Spencer Rattler feel comfortable. Williams would likely become their No. 2 wideout next to Olave since the passing attack was struggling against Tampa Bay in the last two quarters before losing in a near blowout.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers let go of Williams because of the cap but they need a familiar weapon to bring back for Justin Herbert. Williams wasn’t efficient in New York despite being with a veteran quarterback but he’s still a reliable weapon. It will be a no-brainer move for Jim Harbaugh to bring back Williams to provide insurance behind Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey. Instead, the head coach is installing a heavy-run offense but adding someone like Williams could change his mind and help Herbert thrive again focusing on improving the passing game.
Baltimore Ravens
This might be the perfect opportunity for Baltimore to get a low-cost, high-reward player. The team hasn’t acquired a wideout since releasing Odell Beckham Jr., but they still have a solid Zay Flowers and a blossoming Rashod Bateman. It might seem unlikely for the Ravens to acquire a new receiver but having someone like Nelson Agholor who’s dealing with inconsistency issues, it might feel mandatory to add one. However, they don’t have a lot of size in the pass catchers, so Williams could make an impact on the margins.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers may be 4-2 but they don’t have any consistent receiver on their team. George Pickens has been struggling and he looks discontent with Mike Tomlin’s offense. They’ll probably trade him but if they do, Williams could be their immediate WR1. It won’t be a drastic change but one to at least kick the tires for either Justin Fields or Russell Wilson.
