Injuries have been running amock for the San Francisco 49ers this season. It started with running back Christian McCaffrey who is on Injured Reserve with Achilles tendonitis. Then it was wide receiver Deebo Samuel who is dealing with a calf strain. He will not be available for the 49ers when they face the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3 and possibly beyond. It doesn’t stop with McCaffrey and Samuel. The 49ers will likely be without another star player against the Rams.

On Friday, head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed the 49ers’ injury report heading into their matchup with the Rams. The most notable and newest name added to it was tight end George Kittle. He is doubtful to play against the Rams as he nurses a hamstring injury. Kittle missed practice on Thursday and Friday, which indicates how bothersome of an injury it is. So, the 49ers will likely be without Kittle in Week 3. Backup tight end Eric Saubert would fill in for Kittle if he becomes inactive.

A total of three All-Pro caliber players will be missing for the 49ers on offense. Usually when a team is missing that much high-end talent, it will make achieving victory extremely difficult. However, the 49ers still boast one of the most talented offenses in the league. All-Pro wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is still there. The connection he has with quarterback Brock Purdy should be on full display for this upcoming matchup. Wide receiver Jauan Jennings is sure to step up as he has proven throughout his career.

Even rookie wide receiver Jacob Cowing is poised to make his debut and have a role against the Rams. Backup running back Jordan Mason has also demonstrated to be an impactful player in place of McCaffrey. The 49ers should be fine on offense, especially against the Rams. Los Angeles has at best an average defense, which isn’t enough to slow down the 49ers. This is a perfect game for Purdy to show he is not reliant on the abundance of talent around him.
