The Baltimore Ravens or Kansas City Chiefs may fight for Chargers trade candidate wide receiver, Bo Melton this season. According to a report, one source says the Chargers could trade for a receiver since they are already one of the weakest core groups right now in the league. However, it may be sensible considering the Packers have a deep group of pass catchers but the Chargers are on a winning streak despite the lack of talent. Green Bay will have a tough time figuring out who they will keep on their roster so they might safe trading at least one receiver since Jordan Love is already out with an injury.

Melton was a 2022 seventh-round pick, notching 218 yards and a score on 16 receptions in five games last year. Rather than cutting him, they should be able to field some trade calls to get at least a draft pick in return. Melton should be able to fit somewhere as a WR4 on the Chargers roster before DJ Chark comes back but the team is solid after blowing out Carolina, 26-3. However, a team like the Ravens needs a receiver to help Rashod Bateman and Zay Flowers, especially after losing back-to-back games to start the season.

The team hasn’t been able to use Nelson Agholor much or get any involvement for him. This might open the door for the Ravens to search for a homegrown receiver and that could be Melton since he’s still young. Agholor has been a disappointment since his arrival so the absence of Odell Beckham Jr. clearly shows the struggles for the Ravens offense. However, Marquise Brown isn’t expected to return this season so they need someone behind Xavier Worthy, Rashee Rice and JuJu Smith-Schuster as a reliable WR4 deep threat.

Other Potential Trade Destinations

Carolina Panthers

Frustrations continue after losing in another blowout loss against the Chargers. Bryce Young isn’t able to find anyone open while possibly behind one of the worst offensive lines this season. Adam Thielen didn’t appreciate Young not seeing him open and there continues to be a lack of chemistry with Diontae Johnson. Who is the perfect receiver to make Young great for him to lead this team? It seems imminent that the Panthers could trade Johnson if they continue losing.

Melton is by no means changing the team around at all if he joins the Panthers through a trade. However, it gives Young another tool to work with to see if he can develop something with another incoming pass catcher. Rookie Xavier Legette didn’t get any catches or looks the entire matchup but someone like Melton could change the game around as a WR3. The Panthers shouldn’t rely on him but they should start experimenting by the end of the season if they can’t find at least a win.

Dallas Cowboys

It’s turning into a rollercoaster for America’s team after losing in a blowout against the Saints. However, things could change around if they have a consistent receiver to haul in catches from Dak Prescott in pressure situations. CeeDee Lamb won’t be able to carry the team meanwhile they’re betting on Jalen Tolbert and Jalen Brooks to step up as their depth behind Brandin Cooks. They’re nothing but journeymen from the looks of their performance so far.

Melton probably won’t beat out Cooks for the starting role but it provides some life in the slot as a reliable consistent pass catcher. Prescott can’t afford to rely on Lamb and Jake Ferguson who was out for the entire contest due to injury. He needs someone that he can count on to keep drives alive to lead them to the end zone.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Things are looking bright for the Steelers despite their lack of pass catchers. However, where it matters is in the postseason and that’s where Mike Tomlin will decide who will be their immediate starting quarterback between Justin Fields and Russell Wilson. Bo Melton could revive the wagon of the offense if it dies midseason with the carry of George Pickens.
