The Miami Dolphins offense thrived by using two running backs last season. De’Von Achane and Raheem Mostert have formed an elite running back duo. That being said, one of these backs has been ruled out for Miami ahead of their Thursday Night Football clash with the Buffalo Bills.

Dolphins Starting Running Back Ruled Out

The Dolphins are coming off a close win against the Jacksonville Jaguars. This win may have come at a cost, as running back Raheem Mostert has now been ruled out for Thursday Night Football. Miami faces a tough matchup against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. This matchup will have a major impact on who comes out on top of the AFC East this season. The Bills, Dolphins, and New York Jets are all expected to compete for the AFC East title.

What This Means

Mostert’s injury means that Devon Achane will be the featured back for Miami (assuming he plays; he’s a game-time decision). Achane is one of the most electrifying players in football. He is coming off of a rookie season where he rushed for 800 yards and eight touchdowns as well as 27 receptions for 197 yards and three touchdowns through the air in 11 games. Achane being the featured back will open up the pass game even more. Last week, Achane had seven receptions for 76 yards. If Miami can get a similar level of production, along with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, Buffalo will have its hands full.

Buffalo’s defense is coming off of a disappointing performance against the Arizona Cardinals at home. The Cardinals put up 28 points on the Bills defense, accumulating 124 rushing yards. Although Raheem Mostert is out, the Dolphins’ offense will pose an even stiffer challenge for the Buffalo defense. Miami has a plethora of weapons including star receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, and Devon Achane will be a handful to handle out of the backfield.
