Pro Bowler running back Latavius Murray may receive interest from the Baltimore Ravens or Carolina Panthers as week two is around the corner. One source believes the Broncos should bring back Murray to add some experience in the backfield after their week one performance loss against the Seahawks. Denver rushed for 25 carries for 99 yards by Quarterback Bo Nix while Jaleel McLaughlin, Javonte Williams and Audric Estime combined for 20 carries for 64 carries. Murray knows head coach Sean Payton from New Orleans so it’s clear he would have some chemistry already there if he joins Denver.
However, he had a strong output with Denver after notching 827 yards of total offense and five touchdowns, including 703 rushing yards. The 34-year-old was the oldest running back last year but he may still have something in the tank to offer. While playing for the Buffalo Bills in 2023, he put 419 yards of total offense and four touchdowns in just four starts. It’s clear he still has something and that may be what most teams could look for when potentially acquiring him to put him in a reserve role.
He should be fresh this upcoming season after he told a reporter that he went outside the country to receive stem-cell treatment in Colombia to hopefully rejuvenate his body. Teams that need a fresh pair of legs are the Ravens even though backup running back Justice Hill put on a decent show. John Harbaugh said Derrick Henry isn’t the whole team as he clarified that everyone shares the same workload. Murray may not be the same athlete as he was but it’s enough depth for Baltimore to consider him in rotation.
However, it would help Henry because he has a strong excellent history of injuries and Murray could accommodate.

More Help For Carolina
After their disastrous performance against New Orleans, any help would be viable for the Panthers this season. Many could argue that the Panthers season is over after losing one of their key defensive pieces, Derrick Brown. All is crashing down for Dave Canales’ first year as head coach. However, adding Murray to the offense could get the team a fighting chance. The passing game for Bryce Young was weak so they may want to focus on running the football until momentum shifts their way.
Murray could do that with the speed that he has and experience now that’s rejuvenated. Rookie Jonathon Brooks isn’t starting this year but swapping out Chuba Hubbard and Miles Sanders in the mix should give him enough depth to rotate around. Two running backs who have strong experience should be able to give the offense something to learn from.
Other Possible Destinations
Los Angeles Chargers
Jim Harbaugh may get his wish this season after the passing game looks weak for Justin Herbert, especially with DJ Chark on the injury. Harbaugh wants to win football games in the trenches but he won’t be able to do so with Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins alone. They can crack at any minute since they are coming off injuries so it may be safe to sign a veteran like Murray to give comfortability in the backfield. Joshua Kelley has a good future but don’t expect him to put up numbers like Murray would since he has veteran experience.
Kansas City Chiefs
Isiah Pacheco is the starter and isn’t going anywhere as long as he stays healthy. However, the depth behind him is still concerning even after adding running back Samaje Perine. Murray has similar characteristics but Perine is more of a pass catcher than a runner. Adding a veteran to help Clyde Edwards-Helaire deal with off-field issues should give the Chiefs a reason to keep around two experienced running backs behind Pacheco instead of Edwards-Helaire.
Dallas Cowboys
Rico Dowdle was showing some flashes last game against the Browns but it wasn’t anything exciting just like Ezekiel Elliott. It may take some trial and error for the backfield to get a jumpstart to help Dak Prescott. However, they could add an experienced running back for one year like Murray while Dalvin Cook gets ready to share some snaps.
