The Baltimore Ravens or Carolina Panthers may steal former first-rounder, Caleb Farley from the New England Patriots this upcoming regular season. According to a report, the Patriots were working out the cornerback in a move that they could potentially sign him nothing is happening right now. The Titans didn’t bring back Farley when deciding the final 53-man roster. The team is moving on since the Virginia Tech product hasn’t been able to stay healthy during his rookie year in 2021.

Injuries have been dating back to his college days which are now following him throughout the league. Farley attempted to return the next season but his time didn’t last after suffering another injury, receiving surgery on his back. He didn’t participate in a single game last year so he’s heading for a “bust” label if he doesn’t get any playing time. However, Farley was able to post 14 total tackles and one pass defended.

A Championship Scenery

Teams with questionable depth at the cornerback position should be able to bring him in for a chance. He isn’t the most impressive or explosive talent but it gives many teams like the Ravens and Panthers a boost. However, Farley would probably be better off heading to the Ravens if he wants to get back to his productive self. Baltimore doesn’t need another cornerback since they have two strong ones, Marlon Humphrey and Brandon Stephens.

Perhaps, a new breath of air and better coaching is what Farley needs to play at his peak. He won’t have any pressure to start but since they’re bringing in rookie Nate Wiggins, he could carve out a backup role for himself too. The Ravens don’t lose anything if they give Farley a one-year shot where he could give the depth chart an upside.

Rebuilding Mode

The Panthers have their focus on restructuring their offense after getting a strong supporting cast for Bryce Young. Diontae Johnson and rookie Xavier Legette are a good start for their offense but they won’t win games without any help in their secondary. Farley isn’t going to magically change it but it’s a need for the position. Carolina was close to receiving help after Stephon Gilmore was in talks to return but it didn’t work out.

The Panthers also don’t have anything to lose being that they had one of the worst records last year. They need all the help they can get behind Jaycee Horn.

Other Potential Destinations

Kansas City Chiefs

Don’t expect this team to have the same success they did last year after trading L’Jarius Sneed this offseason. Joshua Williams and Trent McDuffie will have to pick up the slack for this season. They’ve been showing flashes after their week one win but some solid depth would help provide some comfort. Farley could carve out a role at the bottom of the roster so the team has some backup in case they need some insurance.

New Orleans Saints

You can never have too many cornerbacks in the league but since Marshon Lattimore is a hot trade candidate, they may have to start thinking about life after him. The Saints shouldn’t worry too much since Paulson Adebo and Kool-Aid McKinstry can probably take over but both are young and need more time to adjust. Farley’s young too but he’s been a part of the league for a couple of years so the change of scenery could improve his abilities.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys are losing DaRon Bland for a couple of weeks which leaves Trevon Diggs and Jourdan Lewis to step up. Many reports were urging the Cowboys to bring back Gilmore and now he’s a player they need. He’s signing with the Vikings so the Cowboys can’t bring him in anymore. However, Farley is nowhere on the level of Gilmore or Xavien Howard but it gives Dallas some new life in depth.
