Teams Are Scared Of This Quarterbacks Potential

When an NFL head coach tells reporters that a player strikes fear into teams, people take notice. Recently, an unnamed head coach said this about Indianapolis Colts franchise quarterback Anthony Richardson. It sounds like people around the league are expecting a massive breakout season from Anthony Richardson. When you dive into his skillset and success in his few rookie year games, it is easy to understand why.

How High Is Anthony Richardson’s Potential

Anthony Richardson has the size, speed, and arm talent to be an elite quarterback in the NFL. Richardson stands 6’4, 240 pounds, which is a massive frame for a quarterback. This makes Richardson an extremely powerful runner, and a nightmare for defenders to try to bring to the ground. Through the air, he impressed in his rookie season. In three and a half games before enduring a season ending injury, Richardson threw for 577 yards through the air while rushing for 136 yards. He accounted for 7 total touchdowns and 1 interception.

What This Means For The Colts

If Anthony Richardson has a breakout season for Indianapolis, this could be a dangerous team. They are in a tough division as the Texans and Jaguars are both expected to compete for the division. The Colts are coming off of a 9-8 season, and they were close to making the playoffs. This was with Gardner Minshew as the starting quarterback for the majority of the year. Richardson has a much higher ceiling than Minshew, which means the Colts also have a much higher veiling this season. Indianapolis is coming off of a poor season defensively, and that will have to improve. However, with Richardson running the show, and talent around him such as receiver Michael Pittman Jr., this offense might explode.
