2024 Fantasy Football Profile: Evan Engram

Evan Engram had one of the best years of his career in 2023, but what should be expected of him this year for fantasy football?

Evan Engram’s 2023 season couldn’t have gone much better for him in his second season with the Jaguars. He finally looked like the player the Giants drafted in 2017, but what should fantasy owners expect to see from him this fall?

Fantasy Football Draft Guide

2023 in Review

Engram finished 2023 with the most receiving yards of his career with 963 yards. He also caught the most passes in a single season of his career at 114 receptions. In turn, it produced the lowest yards per reception of his career with 8.4, but those in PPR leagues were happy with the extra 114 points. He also only found the back of the endzone four times last year, primarily because Calvin Ridley stole the show there.

One thing to note is that Engram’s 114 receptions and 143 targets last year led all fantasy tight ends. Better than Travis Kelce, and better than Sam LaPorta. He’s the definition of a safety blanket for Trevor Lawrence, and that’s totally okay. He finds ways to make plays and accumulate yards.

2024 Projection

Engram’s 2024 season is an interesting one. On paper, him and Christian Kirk are the two most experienced targets in the Jaguars wide receiver room. With Zay Jones being suspended and Brian Thomas Jr. adjusting to the league, Engram is in a prime spot to get a lot of targets once again. He may not get 143 targets like he did last year, but that number should certainly be above 100.

Touchdowns have always been something Engram has struggled with, and it’s going to be the biggest question mark for him in 2024. His career best is six touchdowns in a single season, and it’s not a guarantee he ever surpasses that total. His numbers are going to be inflated by receptions and yards, so he needs to produce a similar stat line like he did last year to be among the league’s best.

However, Engram is still a serviceable tight end even if he doesn’t replicate his numbers from a year ago. His stats in 2023 were almost unheard of before they happened. If he can make them the expectation moving forward, great. If not, he’s still a solid tight end for fantasy.

Evan Engram Fantasy Football ADP

FantasyPros lists Engram’s ADP at 71 with a range of 57-102. His draft position is right where it should be based on his place in the latest tight end rankings here at LWOS. He slots in as the TE6 going into 2024 and has the potential to finish much higher than that.

Grabbing Engram in the sixth or seventh round is great value for him if you’re stocking up on running backs and wide receivers in Rounds 1-5. Depending upon the format of your league, those positions (and possibly your flex) could be filled before grabbing Engram as your tight end. PPR leagues get more out of him with his target volume, but he has some big weeks in the chamber just waiting to happen that will be beneficial to all formats.
