The Los Angeles Chargers or Baltimore Ravens may trade for surprising cut candidate wide receiver, Alec Pierce before the regular season. According to a report, a Bleacher Report source says the Colts could put Pierce on the trading block or move on from him overall even though he’s been showing signs of potential. The issue is that he doesn’t stay consistent or impactful like the team has been hoping but he has a chance to turn that around if the Colts keep him. Quarterback Anthony Richardson has the opportunity to turn Pierce into a high target who could be reliable in the slot even though that may be unlikely.
This means the Colts have plenty of options at the wideout position including Michael Pittman Jr. who the team was able to extend. If Josh Downs can stay healthy then he may be the one to replace Pierce if he becomes expendable which would have someone like rookie Adonai Mitchell emerge as a reliable target. It may become difficult for Pierce to eventually carve out a role for himself if the Colts don’t use him so they could put him on the trade block to see if any suitors are looking for a reliable wideout. His value is still high being that his age, physical traits and potential are still through the ceiling.
The Chargers are still looking for any receiver that has a high ceiling since guys like Quentin Johnston, Joshua Palmer and DJ Chark don’t look to be good replacements for Mike Williams and Keenan Allen. However, the Ravens may still want to add a wideout that lasts longer than Nelson Agholor since he’s on a one-year deal behind Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman. Here are some other trade suitors for Pierce.

Other Trade Destinations
New Orleans Saints
The offense on paper probably looks like the worst among other teams in the league. It’s pretty much Derek Carr and Chris Olave against the world. Usually, when this happens, there have to be miracles and even at that, it probably won’t happen. Rashid Shaheed and A.T. Perry have the chance to prove otherwise but they may be better off with a young Pierce who can carve himself as a superstar similar to what Adam Thielen did in Carolina. It would be a smart idea for the Saints to trade for him before Pierce’s value declines so that way Carr can have a homegrown receiver that can become reliable next to Olave.
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys have always been the type of team to get young talent which they did a couple of years ago when trading for Tavon Austin. They could take the same approach but Pierce has a bigger upside as a reliable slot threat to provide the team with stability behind CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks. It would give the Cowboys breathing room in case Lamb continues his holdout into the regular season.
Carolina Panthers
The Panthers have a lot to look forward to with Bryce Young after his disappointing rookie campaign last season. They have new weapons in Diontae Johnson and rookie Xavier Legette to help Thielen in the passing attack. Since Thielen is getting older, a guy like Pierce could probably fill in his roster spot. There have been rumors that the Panthers could put Thielen on the trade block so it makes sense to bring a younger supporting cast to build with Young.
