The Baltimore Ravens or Kansas City Chiefs may pursue wideout Eli Rogers attempting to make his comeback bid this upcoming regular season. According to a report, the veteran has been taking to social to voice his desire to play in the league again as he criticizes other receivers he sees today. Rogers was a fan-favorite of Ben Roethlisberger during 2016 when he was able to haul in 48 receptions for 594 yards and three touchdowns in just 13 games. He would later suffer an ACL injury the next year after their Divisional round loss to the Jaguars and never made an impact on the next two seasons despite his contract extension.
Rogers would find himself on the shelf for the next few years waiting for an opportunity but he may attempt to make one if any team becomes an interest. However, even though he might be a little overconfident, he hasn’t been able to play a single snap of football since 2018. He still wants another opportunity and it may happen if a team gives him a chance to work out for them. The Steelers community has the same optimism and feels like he should get another chance so it could be soon that he gets another opportunity even if he lands on a practice squad spot before eventually working his way up to the depth chart.
However, the Chiefs are lacking depth at the receiver position since losing Marquise Brown to injury and they may be without Rashee Rice because of off-field issues. Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore and Mecole Hardman are barely making it so they may bring in Rogers to stir competition. The same goes for the talent behind Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman while Nelson Agholor comes through with veteran insurance but temporarily.

Other Potential Destinations
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers seem supportive of bringing back Rogers to the league again so there’s a chance that the team could look into him. The team has been the subject of rumors of potentially looking to trade for Brandon Aiyuk, Deebo Samuel or DK Metcalf since losing Diontae Johnson to the Panthers. Rookie Roman Wilson is on a hot streak in the slot but has been dealing with injuries but has a chance to return to preseason week three. Rogers may not be in his prime anymore like he thinks he is but Rogers’ addition could fill the hole for insurance.
Carolina Panthers
The Panthers have all the marbles to lead Bryce Young to a potentially successful season with the additions of Diontae Johnson and Xavier Legette. However, even though Adam Thielen isn’t slowing down anytime soon, he could use some help since he’s getting older. He probably won’t be the No. 2 receiver if all works out for Legette but he can spread the offense alongside Rogers in the slot. Rogers would be like a bullet as a quick slant playmaker and could create a nice fiery duo with Thielen.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers are looking like they don’t want to win any football games this season even though they have a new regime under Jim Harbaugh. It looks promising on paper on what they’re trying to create but the passing game doesn’t look bright for Justin Herbert. He’s still a top-5 quarterback in the league but he won’t be able to be that guy anymore if the only weapons are just Quentin Johnston and Joshua Palmer. Ladd McConkey is the only receiver on the roster that has been exploding and has long-term potential.
Meanwhile, guys like DJ Chark aren’t going to last a full 17 games this upcoming season so it makes sense why they’re only bringing him for one year.
