The New Orleans Saints or Los Angeles Chargers may target $5 million draft bust wide receiver, David Bell after his injury. According to a source, Bleacher Report says that the Browns may release Bell before the regular season begins. The Browns have been loading up at the receiver position the past two offseasons which is squeezing out receivers like Bell who is out with an injury. Head Coach Kevin Stefanski knows the issues are first with injury which could indicate the Browns are moving on from him.
While Bell nurses his injury, many names like Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy and Elijah Moore get chances to improve. Bell faces competition upon his return so the chances of him returning before the regular season to prove his worth will probably come too late. Many receivers like second-string wideout Cedric Tillman and Jaelon Darden can use this time to their advantage to get above the curve so the best route the Browns could take is releasing him so other teams give Bell a chance. The Browns may not have a deep receiver room but many sources indicate that the Browns are one step away from releasing him.
Bell could probably still land a roster spot even if he starts over again on the practice and the Saints should be first on the list. New Orleans hasn’t been doing anything to help with the passing game for Derek Carr. He’s already on the hot seat and it doesn’t look good being that Carr only has Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed as his only two reliable targets. The same can be said for the Chargers even though they’ve been active this offseason after drafting Ladd McConkey and signing DJ Chark.
Bell provides any team that needs quick insurance for cheap.

Other Potential Destinations
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs will likely need to depend on a lackluster Mecole Hardman and Kadarius Toney who is already on the potential chopping block after Marquise Brown‘s injury. Kansas City is hoping for Rashee Rice to take over at the No. 1 spot but the team would need quality depth if Patrick Mahomes wants to be successful this season. Head Coach Andy Reid should be able to understand that the team can’t rely on Travis Kelce forever so this means Bell’s addition could be crucial.
He won’t be playing a major role but it gives Mahomes a new set of working hands so Bell could revive his career. If Rice misses a few games, the Chiefs might be able to survive if they sign a quick cheap free agent like Bell if he becomes available. Guys like Toney and Skyy Moore have been slowing down the progress of the team’s passing game but Bell could actively attempt to move the group in the right direction. Xavier Worthy has starter potential but it’s going to take a couple of years before he becomes the new Tyreek Hill.
Carolina Panthers
The Panthers don’t necessarily need a receiver since they’ve been able to trade for Diontae Johnson but on paper, they look to be one receiver injury away from disaster. Bryce Young has his two starters in Adam Thielen and Johnson but incoming rookie Xavier Legette is already dealing with injuries and it’s going to take him a few games to get in the groove. Bell’s addition would be sufficient as an extra slot wideout that can perform decently for one year before eventually, they have to trade for a massive receiver that lasts longer.
Dallas Cowboys
The problems with CeeDee Lamb entering this regular season aren’t getting any better so Dallas will likely have to address the wideout position. When you only have Brandin Cooks and an unproven starter like Jalen Tolbert, then it becomes an issue. This doesn’t give Dak Prescott many options on the field and Lamb is their only best talent in the passing game unless they rely on their tight ends again. However, no offense should be reliant on that and Bell doesn’t provide long-term stability but gives relief for a couple of games in the slot.
