The Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs trade candidate Miles Sanders may land with the Dallas Cowboys this upcoming season. According to a report, the Cowboys have a list of running backs in their depth chart, including Ezekiel Elliott and Rico Dowdle but sources say that they have a list of free-agent options if they need another one. Sanders is on that list and the only way the Cowboys can get him is via a trade which seems unlikely being that the team hasn’t been able to make moves. He finds himself this season in a position battle with Chuba Hubbard and rookie Jonathon Brooks who is still recovering from injury.

However, last season Sanders was having his worst NFL season recording 432 rushing yards and one touchdown while averaging 3.3 yards per attempt. He only had a notable year during his time with the Eagles notching 1,269 rushing yards and 11 rushing touchdowns. The only question that remains is if Carolina has an interest in parting ways with Sanders which may make sense for them considering they have Hubbard and Brooks already. Sooner or later, Sanders would probably dip below the depth chart within this upcoming season so it may be safe to trade him to get something in return.

The Cowboys would likely pursue Sanders if he’s available via free agency but teams like the Chargers and Chiefs may be still in the market for a running back. Los Angeles may have Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins but they have an excellent history of injuries. Sanders would be brought in if there’s an emergency. However, the Chiefs need a reliable backup to help Isiah Pacheco since Clyde Edwards-Helaire hasn’t been replicating the same energy that Kansas City is looking for in a running back.

Other Potential Trade Destinations

Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens are establishing a different type of offense this upcoming season but it’s still the same scheme. They need some type of firepower at the running back position even though they have Derrick Henry as their permanent. However, he’s been injury-prone recently and one disaster could lead to a weak running game so it may be safe for the Ravens to invest again. Sanders is the perfect piece to the puzzle to help accommodate Henry at the long-run plays while they can focus on getting him in the red zone to get those extra yardages.

Keaton Mitchell is dealing with injuries but the team could also go the cheap of signing a free agent. However, that is true but it may be easier for the stability of this offense to bring in Sanders who’s been hungry to get a playing chance behind one of the best offenses in the league.

New Orleans Saints

The Saints are walking into this season with Derek Carr on the hot seat with one of the worst offenses. They have Alvin Kamara and Jamaal Williams as the running game may give him a chance so why not keep stacking? Sanders provides the perfect match to replicate the production that these running backs give to this offense. He doesn’t just run but can be an extra wideout that Carr can throw to.

Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals are entering this season without Joe Burrow’s favorite running back, Joe Mixon but that doesn’t mean they should stop adding talent. However, Zack Moss is entering the corps to be some help for second-year Chase Brown which has a lot of potential on paper. If the Bengals want any chance to restructure their run game, it may be safe to add a championship veteran like Sanders.
