Three Quarterbacks to Avoid in Fantasy Football

Quarterback is arguably the most important position, and you don't want to ruin your season. Avoid these three quarterbacks in 2024.
Fantasy quarterbacks to avoid

Quarterbacks can make or break your fantasy football season, so it’s best to avoid those who are questionable at best. Whether it’s a redraft league or you’re starting a keeper/dynasty league, it’s best to not even think about taking these players. Let someone else deal with their frustrations.

Three Quarterbacks to Avoid in Fantasy Football

Fantasy Football Draft Guide

Daniel Jones, New York Giants

There’s a reason the Giants were considering moving on from Daniel Jones in the offseason, and it’s because he’s not what the organization expected him to when they drafted him in 2019. He’s been in the league for five years and has stayed healthy for just one season. His injury history is legitimate, and it makes you wonder how much time he will miss this year.

Malik Nabers can only do so much to make Jones look good this season… and that’s if Jones can provide him with catachable passes on a consistent basis. As seen on Hard Knocks, the Giants are trying to give Jones the benefit of the doubt this year. It’s best if fantasy players just avoid him altogether.

Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins

If fantasy football was won based on the first half of the season, Tua Tagovailoa wouldn’t be on this list with how he performed in Weeks 1-9 last season. After the Dolphins bye week, Tagovailoa was not the same player. He dropped from QB5 to QB20 in the second half of the season. That’s a significant drop from just half of the season, and he never went over 20 points in one week after the bye.

That drop was even with Tyreek Hill having a spectacular season, and Jaylen Waddle being right behind him in the receiver room. It’s kind of frightening to think about how big the drop would’ve been if Tagovailoa wasn’t throwing to a top-three receiver in the game. Rather than gamble on what version of him you will get, just avoid Tagovailoa completely.

Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers

This one may be a bit of a surprise since he’s only going into his second year, but Panthers fans shouldn’t be expecting much from Bryce Young. The offense was atrocious last year with no run game and very few weapons for Young to find in the air. However, things won’t just fix themselves over night.

Carolina has done a lot to build the offense around Young: drafting Jonathan Brooks and Xavier Legette as well as trading for Diontae Johnson from the Steelers. Those moves him give a workhorse running back once he’s fully healthy and two new receiving options in addition to Adam Thielen.

Just like with in New York, the receivers can only do so much unless they get catchable passes from their quarterback on a consistent basis. The only things consistent about Young last year were his lack of 200+ passing yard games and number of sacks per game. He might be young and he may bounce back, but let someone else take the chance on that. Avoid Young in all of your leagues.
