Fantasy Football Auction Mock Draft 1.0

Auction drafts are rising in popularity, so there's a need to do mocks. Auction mock draft 1.0 took stars early and bargain shopped later.
Auction mock draft 1.0

A new snake mock draft appears almost every other day or even every day as we get closer to the start of the NFL season. Yet, nobody ever takes the time to make an auction mock draft. With auction drafts becoming more popular, it’s time to show them the respect they deserve.

Note that this mock draft was performed on Sleeper with PPR scoring, one flex, a kicker and a defense. Budget for the draft was $200, and my picks are bolded and italicized.

2024 Fantasy Football Auction Mock Draft 1.0

Fantasy Football Draft Guide

Round 1:

CeeDee Lamb $59

Justin Jefferson $45 (Team 12)

Christian McCaffrey $84 (Team 3)

Tyreek Hill $60 (Team 6)

Amon-Ra St. Brown $44

Breece Hall $59 (Team 4)

Ja’Marr Chase $45 (Team 4)

Bijan Robinson $55

A.J. Brown $38 (Team 9)

Jahmyr Gibbs $43 (Team 4)

Marvin Harrison Jr. $18 (Team 8)

Davante Adams $25 (Team 1)

Despite what was written in the auction draft strategies guide, the motto of this mock was to be aggressive early and often. It resulted in getting a fantastic core of players that would carry the team every single week. Bijan Robinson will be one of the best running backs in football while the receiving duo of CeeDee Lamb and Amon-Ra St. Brown is second to none. The budget was down to just $42 after the opening round.

Round 2:

Puka Nackua $34 (Team 3)

Jonathan Taylor $46 (Team 9)

Saquon Barkley $45 (Team 9)

Garrett Wilson $39 (Team 2)

Drake London $26 (Team $12)

Kyren Williams $39 (Team 10)

Chris Olave $25 (Team 11)

Brandon Aiyuk $19 (Team 12)

Travis Etienne $37 (Team 1)

Josh Allen $37 (Team 6)

De’Von Achane $39 (Team 2)

Sam LaPorta $29 (Team 12)

Round 3:

Travis Kelce $29 (Team 9)

Derrick Henry $37 (Team 3)

Mike Evans $21 (Team 3)

Josh Jacobs $34 (Team 6)

Isaiah Pacheco $42 (Team 6)

Nico Collins $21 (Team 9)

DJ Moore $18

Stefon Diggs $17 (Team 10)

Deebo Samuel $20 (Team 7)

Rachaad White $36 (Team 4)

Jaylen Waddle $19 (Team 11)

Jalen Hurts $31 (Team 8)

Grabbing a player like D.J. Moore solidifies the flex position. His price tag of $18 was fairly reasonable even though it took a huge chunk of the budget. That leaves just $24 to build the rest of the team. Caleb Williams has a few receivers at his disposal, but Moore should see a good bit of targets.

Round 4:

Michael Pittman $14 (Team 1)

Patrick Mahomes $29 (Team 1)

Lamar Jackson $24 (Team 11)

DeVonta Smith $18 (Team 2)

Cooper Kupp $23 (Team 2)

Trey McBride $23 (Team 2)

Alvin Kamara $29 (Team 10)

James Cook $28 (Team 12)

Malik Nabers $14 (Team 8)

Mark Andrews $23 (Team 1)

DK Metcalf $19 (Team 1)

Joe Nixon $27 (Team 7)

Round 5:

Kenneth Walker $24 (Team 11)

CJ Stroud $22 (Team 12)

Dalton Kincaid $21 (Team 10)

Zay Flowers $13 (Team 6)

Kyle Pitts $17 (Team 8)

Tank Dell $15 (Team 10)

George Kittle $22 (Team 11)

Aaron Jones $26 (Team 10)

Tee Higgins $14 (Team 8)

Anthony Richardson $19 (Team 2)

Amari Cooper $18 (Team 11)

James Conner $23 (Team 11)

Round 6:

David Montgomery $19 (Team 12)

Rhamondre Stevenson $21 (Team 1)

George Pickens $13 (Team 1)

Joe Burrow $19 (Team 7)

D’Andre Swift $20 (Team 2)

Keenan Allen $13 (Team 11)

Christian Kirk $16 (Team 7)

Najee Harris $20 (Team 7)

Terry McLaurin $12

Dak Prescott $15 (Team 10)

Rome Odunze $8 (Team 1)

Jayden Reed $8 (Team 7)

Getting a player like McLaurin helps to provide some depth on the bench. In hindsight, the money should’ve been saved for an RB2, but McLaurin on the bench will help bolster the receiving room. The budget now is down to $12, meaning 10 of 11 remaining players will have to be $1 purchases.

Round 7:

Xavier Worthy $1 (Team 1)

Chris Godwin $3 (Team 4)

Jordan Addison $7 (Team 7)

Jared Goff $4 (Team 4)

Rashee Rice $9 (Team 9)

Calvin Ridley $11 (Team 10)

Raheem Mostert $16 (Team 10)

Kyler Murray $8 (Team 3)

Tony Pollard $16 (Team 7)

Zamir White $16 (Team 7)

Hollywood Brown $4 (Team 7)

Round 8:

Javonte Williams $14 (Team 7)

DeAndre Hopkins $1 (Team 2)

Jonathan Brooks $15 (Team 7)

Brock Bowers $5 (Team 3)

David Njoku $3 (Team 6)

Zack Moss $15 (Team 7)

Diontae Johnson $1 (Team 7)

Austin Ekeler $11 (Team 11)

Jordan Love $1 (Team 9)

Ladd McConkey $2

Keon Coleman $1 (Team 11)

Brian Thomas Jr. $1 (Team 12)

Ladd McConkey isn’t a running back, but his value is too good to pass up. He’s a guy that should be targeted by almost everyone, and it was worth spending the extra dollar on him in this auction mock draft. The budget drops to $10 for the final 10 players.

Round 9:

Nick Chubb $7 (Team 2)

Jaylen Warren $9 (Team 8)

Trey Benson $1 (Team 3)

Jake Ferguson $10 (Team 8)

Tyjae Spears $11 (Team 8)

Brock Purdy $6 (Team 8)

Justin Tucker $3 (Team 8)

Devin Singletary $15 (Team 8)

Caleb Williams $1 (Team 9)

Dallas Goedert $5 (Team 2)

Dalton Schultz $5 (Team 10)

Jaxson Smith-Njigba $1 (Team 12)

Round 10:

Gus Edwards $8 (Team 8)

Christian Watson $1 (Team 2)

T.J. Hockenson $3 (Team 1)

Tua Tagovailoa $2 (Team 3)

Kirk Cousins $1

Jameson Williams $1 (Team 6)

Brandon Aubrey $2 (Team 1)

Romeo Doubs $1 (Team 8)

Jerome Ford $1 (Team 9)

Brian Robinson $10 (Team 8)

Chase Brown $2 (Team 12)

Blake Corum $1 (Team 12)

Kirk Cousins at $1 is one of the best you can get in the bargain bin. He won’t be throwing to Justin Jefferson anymore, but Drake London and Kyle Pitts are great targets for him in Atlanta. The budget is down to $9.

Round 11:

Ezekiel Elliott $3 (Team 9)

Jayden Daniels $1 (Team 2)

Curtis Samuel $1 (Team 3)

Trevor Lawrence $3 (Team 4)

Chuba Hubbard $1

Courtland Sutton $1 (Team 6)

Harrison Butler $3 (Team 12)

49ers Defense $1 (Team 8)

Tyler Lockett $1 (Team 9)

Khalil Shakir $1 (Team 10)

Cole Kmet $1 (Team 11)

Zach Charbonnet $2 (Team 1)

Finally getting the RB2 here with Chuba Hubbard isn’t the best, but it could be a lot worse. This will be a short-term gamble until Jonathan Brooks takes the lead role in Carolina. Budget is down to $8.

Round 12:

Justin Herbert $2 (Team 11)

Adonai Mitchell $1 (Team 2)

Pat Freiermuth $2 (Team 6)

Jakobi Meyers $1 (Team 4)

Luke Musgrave $1

Xavier Legette $1 (Team 6)

Jake Elliott $1 (Team 7)

Mike Williams $1 (Team 9)

Matt Stafford $1 (Team 10)

Jaylen Wright $1 (Team 11)

Josh Downs $1 (Team 12)

Luke Musgrave drops into the starting tight end spot. He has decent chemistry with Jordan Love and saw a slightly elevated role as the season went on last year. As Love works to eliminate interceptions, expect Musgrave to be his safety net. Budget is down to $7.

Round 13:

J.K. Dobbins $1 (Team 1)

Kendre Miller $1 (Team 2)

Rico Dowdle $1 (Team 3)

Jerry Jeudy $1 (Team 4)

Tyler Allgeier $1

Gabe Davis $1 (Team 6)

Jets Defense $1 (Team 7)

Rashid Shaheed $1 (Team 9)

Josh Palmer $1 (Team 10)

Evan McPherson $1 (Team 11)

Aaron Rodgers $1 (Team 12)

Tyler Allgeier in this spot does two things. It provides a depth running back option if necessary, and it provides a handcuff to Bijan Robinson if something happens this year. Allgeier will see some time on passing downs and get some targets from the backfield. Budget is down to $6.

Round 14:

Ty Chandler $1 (Team 1)

Younghoe Koo $1 (Team 2)

Ben Sinnott $1 (Team 3)

Troy Franklin $1 (Team 4)

Antonio Gibson $1

Tyler Bass $1 (Team 6)

Cade Otton $1 (Team 9)

Quentin Johnston $1 (Team 10)

Cowboys Defense $1 (Team 11)

Jaleel McLaughlin $1 (Team 12)

Antonio Gibson may not be the lead running back in New England, but he will split carries with Rhamondre Stevenson. Don’t be surprised if Gibson gets some starts over the course of this fall. Budget is down to $5.

Round 15:

Ravens Defense $1 (Team 1)

Browns Defense $1 (Team 2)

Brandin Cooks $1 (Team 3)

Dontayvion Wicks $1 (Team 4)

Baker Mayfield $1

MarShawn Lloyd $1 (Team 6)

Jake Moody $1 (Team 9)

Kai Fairbairn $1 (Team 10)

Buccaneers Defense $1 (Team 12)

Baker Mayfield as the backup quarterback is a solid spot to be. His career has jumped to a new level since arriving in Tampa Bay, and he is still has his top targets in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Budget is down to $4.

Round 16:

Ja’Lynn Polk $1 (Team 3)

Kimani Vidal $1 (Team 4)

Chigoziem Okonkwo $1

Deshaun Watson $1 (Team 6)

Steelers Defense $1 (Team 9)

Dolphins Defense $1 (Team 10)

Chigoziem Okonkwo wasn’t the first choice for a backup tight end in auction mock draft 1.0, but beggars can’t be choosers. He will get considerable targets from Will Levis this season especially if DeAndre Hopkins misses any time. Budget is down to $3.

Round 17:

Jahan Dotson $1 (Team 3)

Ricky Pearsall $1 (Team 4)

Alexander Mattison $1

Tyrone Tracy $1 (Team 6)

Round 18:

Cameron Dicker $1 (Team 3)

Taysom Hill $1 (Team 4)

Chiefs Defense $1

Commanders Defense (Team 6)

Round 19:

Eagles Defense $1 (Team 3)

Isaiah Likely $1 (Team 4)

Jason Sanders $1

The final few rounds of the draft resulted in grabbing Alexander Mattison as an insurance running back and then going with the kicker and defense. The team is full, and the entire budget has been used.

Round 20:

Dylan Carlson $1 (Team 4)

Round 21:

Seahawks Defense $1 (Team 4)

Overall, there’s a lot of good and a lot of bad with this team. Strengths are wide receiver and quarterback while weaknesses are running backs and tight ends (excluding Robinson). The receiving room could be enough to carry this team, but some work on the waiver wire may be required as the season progresses.

Draft Grade: B-
