Travis Etienne had some strong performances for fantasy owners last year. With an improved offensive line, what can he do this year?

Travis Etienne was a consistent bright spot for fantasy owners in the Jaguars offense last year. While he had a few down weeks here and there, his production always found a way to bounce back. What does 2024 look like for him?

Fantasy Football Draft Guide

2023 in Review

Etienne finished the season with just over 1,000 yards rushing on 267 carries. It was a down year for almost everyone in Jacksonville, including Trevor Lawrence. Etienne had just two 100-yard games, but he finished with 40+ rushing yards in all but four games this season. His performances were in the “boom or bust” category especially in PPR leagues.

When Etienne found the endzone, it was contagious for him. He had four games where he scored multiple touchdowns showing his ability to deliver when it matters most. The majority of his falters came as a result of a terrible offensive line last year, but he fought through it. He still finished as the RB7 last year in terms of points per game, no thanks to his teammates up front.

2024 Projection

Good news for Etienne fans as the Jaguars brought in two new offensive lineman: center Mitch Morse and guard Ezra Cleveland. Those two will bolster the line and provide some better holes Etienne to rack up more yards. Etienne is trying to get back to the yards per carry number he produced as a rookie in 2022 (5.1) while keeping up his touchdown numbers.

If there’s any year for Etienne to break out, this is the one. The Jaguars offense doesn’t have a consistent playmaker at wide receiver yet, even though Brian Thomas Jr. has a lot of upside. This is an offense that is set up to run the ball and trust Etienne to get the job done. He picked up an extra 47 carries in his second year, and there’s a chance he could go over 300 touches in 2024.

Travis Etienne Fantasy Football ADP

Etienne’s current ADP is sitting at 16, according to FantasyPros. His draft position ranges from 12-45 depending upon format and league construction. The ADP right now seems slightly high without seeing how the Jaguars offensive line will look in a preseason game, but the idea of wanting to be aggressive and take a chance on him is rational. A more fitting ADP for him right now would be in the 22-25 range.

This can change quickly if the Jaguars offensive line looks dominant in whatever preseason action the starters see. That’s the biggest question mark regarding Etienne and while it may seem unfair to hold it again him, their ability has a strong correlation to how he performs. If the group looks good, it’s not out of the question to see his ADP knock on the door of being a first rounder.

Unlike most running backs nowadays, Etienne is just as fit for standard leagues as he is PPR leagues. Most of his production comes from rushing yards, receiving yards and touchdowns. This benefits those who have multiple teams across different formats as Etienne is someone you can keep as a consistent target in all of your drafts.
