The Carolina Panthers or Baltimore Ravens may trade for 35-sack linebacker, Josh Sweat before the upcoming season. According to a report, Sweat remains on the roster since trading away Haason Reddick this offseason after listening to a few trade offers earlier. Bleacher Report proposes a trade that would involve sending Sweat to the Panthers in return for a second-round pick and pass rusher, K’Lavon Chaisson. Sweat was the subject of trade rumors earlier this offseason but the Eagles were able to come to a resolution of a new contract but he’s still entering the final year of his deal.

Sweat gets some financial security before heading into the 2025 open market but it may be wise for the Eagles to get something in return since he’ll get more expensive after this year. However, Philadelphia is keeping their pass rushing intact by signing Bryce Huff and they have second-year Nolan Smith who may have a big leap this season. The Eagles could opt to trade Sweat this upcoming year instead of attempting to sign him to a new contract next year. It would have been bad news if they lost Sweat as well in the process of losing Reddick since it would leave a sizeable hole in its front.

Sweat has spent his entirety with the Eagles so this will likely be his last season with them and there may be plenty of suitors. He would be a solid addition to Carolina’s defense after losing Brian Burns and signing Jadeveon Clowney this offseason but he could be a fit for the Ravens. Patrick Queen is heading to the Ravens’ rival this season so they need some type of star power to help an already explosive defense. Here are some other potential trade fits for Sweat.

Other Potential Trade Fits

Kansas City Chiefs

Nick Bolton, Drue Tranquill and Leo Chenal have big shoes to fill this upcoming season but they were able to bring back Chris Jones on a massive extension. There may be some inconsistencies with the passing game even though no one should expect Patrick Mahomes to fall off. He’s one of the best quarterbacks in the league but even the best have their years that could end up being dry for a couple of games luckily their defense should be in shape. However, L’Jarius Sneed is no longer with the team and even though he was just a cornerback, he was a great asset for pressure.

Sweat would be the next solid replacement to get some firepower to team with Jones up front.

Los Angeles Chargers

Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa are coming back on new contracts that would save the Chargers plenty of cap space. However, eventually, they’re going to get older and they may demand a massive extension before they retire. They might as well consider trading away at least one of their linebackers to get someone younger like Sweat. The Chargers are probably going to have one of the worst offenses this year so it would help Jim Harbaugh build a strong defense to give Justin Herbert plenty of snaps.

Dallas Cowboys

No one should expect Dallas to make a trade like this one especially if it is from a divisional rival. However, anything’s possible at the right price but the Cowboys would have to give up a lot to get Sweat in return which would be difficult to do. Eric Kendricks is a solid veteran linebacker coming in to replace Dante Fowler Jr. and possibly Leighton Vander-Esch. However, they are lacking one more starter and Sweat would fit that hole to help create a doomsday defense again.
