2024 Fantasy Football Profile: De’Von Achane

De'Von Achane's explosiveness became a dream for fantasy owners last year and forced a tandem in the backfield. Can he repeat in 2024?
Dolphins Commanders

De’Von Achane surprised a lot of fantasy players last year as he quickly became one of the league’s most dynamic running backs. He went into the season as a backup behind Raheem Mostert and now forced a running back tandem in Miami. With a season under his belt, what does 2024 look like for Achane?

Fantasy Football Draft Guide

2023 in Review

Achane finished last season as one of the most explosive running backs. His ability to burst through holes makes him so dynamic and difficult to tackle.

Unfortunately for Achane, he missed six games last season due to injuries. The 10 games he did play with fantasy implications saw a mixed bag of results. He was either getting high volume and racking up yards or watching from the sidelines for most of the game.

His upside and potential were on display in Weeks 3-5 and Week 17 where he rushed for over 100 yards. Two of those games saw him go for 150+ yards, and he averaged 11+ yards per carry in three of the four. Some who had Achane last year probably relied on him to help win a championship last year with his big game against the Ravens.

2024 Projection

Given that everyone has now seen what Achane can bring to the table, his workload this season should be significantly higher. That contingency is whether or not he can overtake Raheem Mostert on the depth chart and whether or not he can stay healthy. If those things happen, he has the potential be a top-five finisher in fantasy football.

The Dolphins know they have an elite running back in Achane, but they seem committed to splitting the touches between multiple rushers. Achane’s biggest issue very well may be his own coaches holding him back by not taking off the training wheels. If he can separate himself from the pack and stay healthy, he should surpass 1,200 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns with ease.

De’Von Achane Fantasy Football ADP

FantasyPros currently has Achane’s ADP at 25 and sees him going as early as 11 and as late as 66. Like a lot of players, both sides of the range seem a bit extreme. It’s unlikely to see Achane be a fringe first rounder or fall all the way to rounds 6-7.

An ADP of 25 seems reasonable for Achane as someone to grab in the third round. He’s a player that fits well in any style of league as most of his points come from rushing yards, receiving yards and touchdowns. Achane is one of those players who will really boost your team some weeks, but it’s best to grab Mostert in later rounds as a handcuff.

Achane would fit best in anyone’s team as an RB2 currently until the conditions mentioned above are met. Unless you utilize the zero-RB strategy and take the conservative approach, it’s best to have a true RB1 first to ensure your team is as strong as possible. Regardless, Achane is a must-draft player if he falls into your lap. Don’t sit around and think he’ll be available for a while, because he’ll be gone before you know it.
