The Los Angeles Chargers or Kansas City Chiefs may trade for Pro Bowler, Alvin Kamara without a new deal entering this upcoming season. According to a report, there has been no progress in extension talks between the Saints and Kamara as his future with the team remains uncertain. This comes after the running back walked out of the final minicamp for the team, which is a sign that he’s unhappy with his current contract situation. Training camp is around the corner and his negotiations will be a storyline to follow as the two will see what they do.

Kamara is seeking an extension or at least a new deal that gives him more long-term security on his current contract or more money. This means he has a big decision to make ahead of his eighth season in the NFL so it shouldn’t surprise anyone if he decides to hold out into training camp. Kamara still has two years on his current deal but the issue is that his 2025 salary is not a guarantee, which shouldn’t be surprising that he wants a new contract. However, he represents a risk for an extension being at his age where his production may fall off.

He doesn’t look to be slowing down since he was able to notch 1,100 scrimmage yards and score six total touchdowns despite missing three games last season. The Chargers are a team that may turn their heads for Kamara if they don’t find much from J.K Dobbins and Gus Edwards. They have a history of injuries so if Jim Harbaugh wants to build a strong running game, then Kamara is the solution. The same can be said about the Chiefs pairing Isiah Pacheco with Kamara to create a dangerous duo.

Other Potential Trade Fits

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys do not have an offense that looks to be a playoff contender this upcoming season. Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb are still without contracts and they were only able to sign Eric Kendricks plus adding Ezekiel Elliott back on the roster. The backfield looks weak right now for America’s team since their only reliable running back is Elliott, who they’re bringing back this season.

Rico Dowdle, Royce Freeman and Malik Davis are not getting the job for this team. They need a legit star playmaker who is willing to share the snaps with Elliott. Kamara should take on the role that Tony Pollard was filling before his departure.

Cincinnati Bengals

Joe Mixon isn’t around so this leaves Zack Moss with big shoes to fill this upcoming year. Joe Burrow and the offense shouldn’t be satisfied with the current state of their backfield. Moss isn’t anything special to look forward to but the Bengals are going to have to get creative to give Kamara the deal he wants. The Bengals are already dealing with contract issues between Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase even though they’re playing this season.

Cincinnati has to think about that but if they want to take a risk, then this is the year. No one should expect to see Higgins, Chase and Burrow together in one team in 2025.

Carolina Panthers

This is a long shot since the Panthers have a lot of running backs on the roster. However, they may be looking to trade away Miles Sanders since Chuba Hubbard has been winning the starting role. This should be enough for Sanders to request a trade being that Jonathon Brooks is coming in and they’re signing Rashaad Penny to a deal. It would leave the No. 2 position empty and that could easily be Kamara’s spot if they want a larger championship window.
