Here is how the Baltimore Ravens and Carolina Panthers are favorites to target 1,100-yard running back, Dameon Pierce.

The Baltimore Ravens and Carolina Panthers are favorites to target 1,100-yard running back, Dameon Pierce if he’s on the trade block. According to a report, a source claims that the Cowboys could make a huge trade as he may be the logical target for the team but there are other suitors. Pierce has been a part of the trade rumors before involving the Cowboys but it’s hard to imagine this team would do anything with the lack of moves this offseason. However, the Texans could consider trading him after a disappointing campaign last year.

He still provides upside for a team that needs an extra running back on their roster. Pierce did excel in his rookie season in 2022 after running for 939 yards on 4.3 yards per carry as the starter. However, he’s falling in the depth chart and likely continue to as long as he’s around in Houston so it may be safe to trade him to save his career. Despite C.J. Stroud’s presence, Pierce struggled to just 2.9 yards per carry.

Devin Singletary came out of nowhere to take over as the starter but he isn’t around anymore since the Texans got Joe Mixon in a trade this offseason. Mixon is the projected starter even though he’s on the older side while Pierce remains as the backup, but realistically, he probably sees much playing time as long as he stays with the Texans. It may be safe to assume that the Ravens are a team that could need a running back despite promising to give a heavy workload to Derrick Henry.

Baltimore should think again and share the snaps with a reliable No. 2 running back. The Panthers may be exploring a new weapon if they trade Miles Sanders after a disappointing year last season.

Other Potential Trade Fits

Los Angeles Chargers

Jim Harbaugh is looking at a weak offseason but wants to build a strong running game for Justin Herbert. It’s going to be a new experience for him since he doesn’t have Mike Williams, Keenan Allen or Austin Ekeler anymore. Herbert wants to continue to be a top-5 quarterback but it doesn’t seem like it will happen this season as their playoff chances look slim. However, they could increase their chances by trading for a cost-effective running back like Pierce to put him behind Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins.

These two running backs have excellent track record injuries so it’s safe to bring in one more in case both of their starters suffer from injuries.

Kansas City Chiefs

Isiah Pacheco provides explosion and reliability for this super team for a long time so no one should expect to replace him. However, they’re lacking depth at the position after just getting back Clyde Edwards-Helaire but he hasn’t been anything special to keep this offense moving with Patrick Mahomes under gun. Jerick McKinnon should be at the top of the conversation for the Chiefs since he was still showing signs of effort that he can still provide value. If the Chiefs don’t view him like that anymore then trading for Pierce would do some justice for competition for the No. 2 spot.

New Orleans Saints

This trade probably won’t happen since the Saints are still addressing the wide receiver and salary cap issues. However, Alvin Kamara was a part of some trade rumors this offseason and if they become true, they could use the money to trade for someone cheaper. Jamaal Williams would likely emerge as the starter which would leave a big hole for the No. 2 position. Pierce could come in to accommodate that spot as a cost-effective weapon to pair with Williams.
